Hello, friends. It's your friendly neighborhood programmer Ootwar.
Just a while ago, FANDOM announced to finally update the MediaWiki system, which this whole thing is basically based on. For a long time, this has been running off an outdate build of MediaWiki, which means this wasn't as progressive as, say, Miraheze and Wikipedia.
What this means:
*Hey, ho! {{PAGEID}} IS HERE, which means you don't have to dig into XML files to get whatever code this is. You can use it to go the page as well as you could with the name itself. This might not be much for you, so I'll just move on.
*Tons of obsecure languages supported now!
*Special:MostInterwikis shows you how many interwiki links each page has.
*You can do math on how many average edits per unique contributor a page has, with ?action=info and a calculator!
*<ref> kinda sucks now.
*You can "patrol" many edits at the same time!
*SPAM BLACKLIST! Chebbycraft34 can't bother us anymore!
*<poem> is a thing now.
*You can make forms inside wiki pages with <inputbox> now.
*Image maps! You can tag things now!
*Now you know that your edit has gone through with the confirmation message.
*You have the option to see page creations only in an user's contributions page. No more pesky scrolling and Ctrl+F.
*{{!}} now works as is, no need for the template page anymore.
*You can move category pages, sick.
*Your passwords are more secure, ofc.
*"Most Viewed Pages" and Special:PopularPages don't work anymore.
*Live preview of what you're building (no more clicking around and waiting to see the end result)
*It's no longer "public domain", it's CC-0. Nothing else changed.
*Category trees, baby!
*You can replace text remotely now.
Please do note that this is just speculation of new things coming, according to what MediaWiki updates since the one they were using has added into the core. These are unconfirmed rumors.
But yeah, what do ya think?
