The 1980s are considered to be one of the most "boring" decades in Tsengian history. Even though Cold War tensions esclated, there were no major protests, and the economy stagnated.

- May 30 - 1980 Tsengian presidential election. Thomas Lan-xiao is elected as president of Tseng.
1981[]
- April 23 - Start of the Taihua anti-immigration protests against migrant workers from Africa, Southeast Asia, and China from the Wanxia Miracle.
- July 2 - End of the Taihua anti-immigration protests
- October 31 - New immigration laws come into effect at midnight on this date.

- January 6 - New Republic Party (NRP) founded.
1983[]
- February 12 - 1983 Huanzhou overpass collapse

- January 1 - Sandao becomes Tseng's 9th state.
- January 1 - Callentown upgraded from a town to a city
- May 25 - 1984 Tsengian presidential election. Huang-li Jia-kang wins.
- July 24 - Huang-li Jia-kang is sworn in as Tseng's 11th president.
1985[]
- February 27 - Huang-li announced the Sixteen Projects in a press conference.
- March 18 - Beginning of the construction of the Wanxia Dam.
- June 30 - Electrification of the Taihua line of TNR.
- December 3 - Completion of Highway A1 from Huanzhou to Lizhong.
1986[]
- April-June - Tseng Minamata disease outbreak. Mercury pollution from mining and a Xincheng factory in the forests of Meihua causes the contamination of thousands of fish in the area and at least 10 people die from Minamata disease.
- May 7 - Opening of the Guofu Bridge in Taihua.
1987[]
- April 11 - The opening of the New St. Joseph port.
1988[]
- January 2 - Tseng Top 50 starts.
- May 27 - 1988 Tsengian presidential election. Huang-li Jia-kang wins a second term.
- Unknown date - PRCTBTA founded.
1989[]
- May 29 - Bafu Incident. The arrest of 12 people and police raid at the LGBT+ friendly Bafu Club in Tseng City. Sometimes called "Tseng's Stonewall"
