Ampark, the Lightning Pokemon
Ampark is a dual Water-Electric type Fakemon introduced in Pokemon West and East in June 1990, replacing Frogqua. It evolves from Puppond starting at level 16, which evolves to Lycanrai starting at level 36.
Description
Ampark is a quadruped canine Pokemon that resembles a coyote. It has blue and yellow fur, a matching bushy tail, and its face looks like that of Puppond's but more intimidating.
Pokedex Entry
West: When Ampark gets excited, sparks fly out its body. It usually like to sleep underground, so if you step one by accident, you'll get a nasty shock!
East: It loves to dig and bury electrical devices. Once someone tries to look for that device, it's the fault of Ampark.

Moveset:
Thunderbolt (Level 1 or upon evolving) A strong electric blast crashes down on the target. This may also leave the target with paralysis.
Tackle (Level 1) A physical attack in which the user charges and slams into the target with its whole body.
Tail Whip (Level 1) The user wags its tail cutely, making opposing Pokémon less wary and lowering their Defense stat.
Water Gun (Level 1) The target is blasted with a forceful shot of water.
Howl (Level 1) The user howls loudly to raise its spirit, which raises its Attack stat.
Water Pulse (Level 12) The user attacks the target with a pulsing blast of water. This may also confuse the target.
Extreme Speed (Level 19) The user charges the target at blinding speed. This move always goes first.
Aqua Jet (Level 24) The user lunges at the target at a speed that makes it almost invisible. This move always goes first.
Bite (Level 30) The target is bitten with viciously sharp fangs. This may also make the target flinch.
Roar (Level 36) The target is scared off and a different Pokémon is dragged out. In the wild, this ends a battle against a single Pokémon.
Aqua Tail (Level 42) The user attacks by swinging its tail as if it were a vicious wave in a raging storm.
Discharge (Level 46) The user strikes everything around it by letting loose a flare of electricity. This may also cause paralysis.
Hydro Pump (Level 48) The target is blasted by a huge volume of water launched under great pressure.
Trivia
- It replaced Frogqua in the 1990 Pokemon Starter Update.
- Vulpond was also replaced by Ampark, but you can still find cameos of this Pokemon in the game.
- Coincidentally, Vulpond and Ampark are both dog Pokemon.
Origin:
Ampark is based on a coyote and a raiju, an elemental lightning creature that can take on the form of various mammals, with the wolf being the most common.
Name Origin:
Ampark's name is deprived from "amplifier" and "spark."
