Animal Toonz is a Peppish multinational animation channel owned by Ultrax, the channel airs several animated cartoons from many animation libraries, Animal Toonz's target audience is for children and teenagers ages 4-17.

Animal Toonz originally began in December 1986 as a experimental television channel created by the PTBC (Peppish Television Broadcasting Company) called Animal Toons, the experimental television channel later closed in February 1987 in order to make big changes, the channel officially relaunched in July 1987 as Animal Toonz, the channel from this point forward saw a very big success and later started expanding internationally, beginning with Samtonia on 1988.

Before 2020, Animal Toonz was owned by both PTBC and TSW Television, with TSW Television adquiring 50% of Animal Toonz's stock in 1998, in 2020, Samtonian company Ultrax has adquired all of Animal Toonz's catalogue, making Animal Toonz fully owned by Ultrax.

Animal Toonz is also famously known for their music videos released in the internet, those being You Got Tooned and The Animal Toonz Pop!.

History[]

In June 1986, PTBC employee Max Mouse has suggested a channel with adult content, they started planning what it would be airing as well animation for idents. However the channel was started from scratch days later after employees werent satisfied with the results, after several tries, they decided to change the channel's focus to "an animation channel where they would show content for kids and teens" after that idea, they started once again planning the graphic design for the channel.

On December 7, 1986, PTBC has launched their new channel as a pre-release limited to select television provideers that had channels owned by the PTBC, the channel's name was Animal Toons, it started their first broadcasts that same day composed of classic cartoons from the 80s and 70s, the pre-launch lasted 2 months until it was closed on February 7, 1987 temporarily to make some changes for the official release of the channel.

5 months later on July 7, 1987, the channel would be officially launched as Animal Toonz and they showed the same exact programming as the pre-launch, however more programming would be introduced on the next months, the channel has started getting a very big audience that later afterwards, PTBC would start negotiating with international provideers to bring Animal Toonz worldwide, with their very first feed being Samtonia, launching on June 17, 1988, as a result, days later Animal Toonz would start launching in more countries.

TSW Television would later buy the 50% of Animal Toonz in 2001, making AT owned by both the PTBC and TSW Television.

In May 2019, Samtonian Mass Media company "Ultrax" has announced that they would be buying Animal Toonz for $100.000.000.000 from PTBC and TSW, this left several Animal Toonz fans worried since this could cause trouble for the channel and might end up shutting down or merging with Ultrax's children channel called "Ultrax Kids", the deal was completed on July 2020 and Ultrax has announced that they WON'T be shutting down Animal Toonz but will seek on expanding the brand as a whole, making fans relieved. After the deal was done, months later Ultrax would start expanding the Animal Toonz brand by opening new channels, though this has caused some consequences such as the "Animal Toonz Movies" block being discontinued in favor of a channel, said changes received mixed reception, but to this day, Animal Toonz and all of their sister channels still have a big audience to this day, with new programming being introduced and in some cases, new feeds for countries being created.

Despite the original adult idea being forgotten in 1986, adult programming was officially incorporated into Animal Toonz in 1998 under a new night-time block called "ATAdultz" and later afterwards, their German feed would feature adult programming since Animal Toonz is a free-to-air channel in Germany like other international channels in Germany, as well a standalone ATAdultz channel being launched in 2020.

Peppaland Censorship[]

In Peppaland, due to laws involving cartoon airings, parts of Animal Toonz's programming had to be censored by removing scenes or banning episodes, Animal Toonz came up with a solution by opening a Plus channel in April 1990, where they would be removing part of the censorship (not all) and airing banned episodes (though certain episodes weren't allowed to air due to Peppish restrictions), however outside Peppaland, there aren't cases of censorship or episodes getting removed from the line-up.
