Ava Lin (Chinese: 林艾; pinyin: Lín Ài; born Lin Aiwa on January 1, 1972) is a Tsengian singer, actress, host, and businesswoman. A member of the Tsengge Eight, her 1994 album Give Me One More Chance (再給我一次機會) sold 1.2 million copies, and earned her a Golden Tune Award for Best Female Mandarin Singer. In 1997, she got another Golden Tune Award with the album Ava (艾娃). Lin is a popular singer; she has sold 20 million copies of all her albums across Southeast and East Asia. She is the youngest member of the Tsengge Eight.
Early life[]
Lin Aiwa (the pinyin for the name "Ava") was born in Tseng City on New Year's Day 1972. Her father, Aaron Lin, was a well-known business tycoon made a fortune on Y.C. Lin, a conglomerate of hotels, airlines, banking, electronics, and real estate. Around when she was 10, Lin enrolled in singing and piano classes, and improved so that in 1991, she won the Sing! Tseng competition. In 1992, she released her first album Fly. It only sold 4,000 copies, but Lin didn't give up. She went to the US for her studies in 1992 and returned to Tseng in 1994.

In 1994, Lin had her breakthrough. The album Give Me One More Chance sold 1.2 million copies, and earned her a Golden Tune Award for Best Female Mandarin Singer. In 1995, she and Wu Yufeng married. In 1996, she performed in Shanghai, China, the first Tsengian singer to do so. Many commentators said that this was a step towards good relations between China and Tseng. In 1997, her fourth studio album Ava earned her another Golden Tune Award. In 1999, she visited China again, this time in Beijing, and held a concert with singer Na Ying. In 2005, she announced that she would be retiring from music, and focusing on "other ventures".

Also in 1999, she was nominated for the Spring Festival Film Award and Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie Spring Lake.
Other[]
Lin acted as judge (and host) for The Voice of Tseng from season 2 to season 4. She was popular, and returned in season 8 and 9 as a guest judge.
Personal life[]
Lin is married to singer Wu Yufeng. They have three children. Unlike her husband, Lin has kept silent on politics.
