'Ayako Sugiwara' (Japanese: 杉原 文子, Hepburn: 'Sugiwara Ayako') is a Japanese writer and character designer currently working at Drillimation Studios. Joining in 2002, she has been with the Drillimation games and anime for almost her entire life. Sugiwara met Susumu Takajima in junior high school, where he became her first boyfriend, but broke up after her second year due to troubles with him.
Sugiwara was praised by Takajima for her artistic style, which became the basis for Aya Shameimaru in the Touhou Project series.
