Boing is a Kuboian free-to-air television channel owned by Turner Broadcasting Networks Kuboia. Based on the Italian television channel of the same name, it was launched on 26th September 2005, and currently airs both original and acquired programming, a majority of which is acquired from Cartoon Network in the United States. The channel rivals TVVC's Zoom and Telesketch Media's Telekids.

Boing is one of three children's channels owned by Turner Broadcasting Networks Kuboia. Its two sister channels, Discovery Kids and Tooncast, focus on educational and classic programming respectively.

History[]

Boing was launched on 26th September 2005 exclusive to the free-to-air Teleview service. The channel originally broadcast everyday from 6:00a.m. to 6:00p.m., and was intended as a "preview" of content that was airing on Cartoon Network Kuboia and Boomerang.

After Cartoon Network Kuboia was shut down in October 2013, Boing was launched in its place on pay television services, which allowed the channel to extend its broadcast hours to 8:00p.m. The channel moved to a full 24 hour schedule on 6th January 2014.

Programming[]

Since its launch, Boing's programming has consisted of a mixture of original and acquired programming. In its early years, the channel broadcast mostly reruns of older animated television series, though following its launch on pay TV providers, it began to focus more on contemporary programming.

Historically, Boing has aired many programmes acquired from the United States versions of Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Since the 2020s however, these have made up only a portion of the schedule.

Cartoonito[]

A preschool programming block, Cartoonito, was launched on 7th April 2014. It aired everyday from 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. It was previously a programming block on Cartoon Network Kuboia, but moved to Boing following the former's closure.

The block was discontinued on 7th January 2024 and was merged with Discovery Kids.

Other services[]

Boing +1[]

A one-hour timeshift service, Boing +1, was launched on 21st October 2013, taking the space left by Cartoon Network +1.

Since 2014, the channel has occasionally been replaced with a pop-up channel that typically broadcasts one or a few shows exclusively over a short period of time (typically a few weeks or a month).

Nederlands Boing[]

A Dutch-language version of the channel, Nederlands Boing, was launched on 6th January 2014. It has an almost-identical schedule to the main Boing channel, but airs programming and advertisements in the Dutch language.
