Current programming[]
TV11 is required by charter to meet certain programming obligations. Although it has a strong focus on international news and current affairs, it also presents documentaries and educational programs, drama, comedy, films and sport. C11 devotes a significant part of its morning television schedule to news bulletins in languages other than English as well as showing many arthouse, independent and foreign language films. Its own news and current affairs aim to have a higher concentration on international affairs than ETV or the commercial networks. It also shows many documentaries and current-affairs programs, while its sports coverage has a strong focus on international sports.
C11’s drama line-up consists of mostly imported content. International productions shown include Inspector Rex, Downton Abbey, Unit One, Funland, Shameless, Big Love and Medici.
Comedy on TV11 is included as part of the TV11 Friday comedy slot and includes English language series such as The Ricky Gervais Show, Skins, Rove Live, Orange Bolts, Bro' Town, South Park, Corner Gas, Nighty Night, The PJ’s and Queer as Folk. The channel also presents foreign languge comedy series, with the flagship being the French language Cette heure a les 22 minutes de la France, a French version of Canadian comedy series This Hour Has 22 Minutes, which debuted with the channel in 1996. It also shows dubbed and subtitled versions of comedy series from the USA, notably Friends and The Simpsons.
Since 2003, C11 has screened the 1960s German-made comedy sketch Dinner for One every New Year's Eve, emulating an annual European TV tradition.
