Cartoon Network Plus (styled as Cartoon Network+) was a channel in the Montarek Archipelago. Its programming often consisted of shows that were shown at later times than those on Cartoon Network plus a few unique features, including a way to vote on the shows that would air during a particular day or week.

History[]

The channel originally operated as a 24-hour channel that was only available on digital providers such as Satellicom. While its first two logos looked very similar to the ones used on Cartoon Network +1 in the United Kingdom, they were used for completely different purposes. For the most part, its use as a channel was to access content at a later period was maintained until a rebrand occurred in 2001. In this rebrand, Toonami began to take over a portion of Cartoon Network Plus' schedule to broadcast from 22:30-06:15 CET.

The well-known U-Pick block (not to be confused with the U-Pick Live program on Nickelodeon) aired biweekly (and on occasions, every day in a week) from 15:00 to 20:00 CET. This allowed a viewer to have the ability to vote for a programme to air at a certain time between said schedule. On several occasions, marathons of one or several television series could be an option. During the rest of its broadcasting day, it primarily aired reruns of shows that aired on the main channel at night, if at all.

From 2007, it adopted several rebrands to make it more in line with Cartoon Network Too despite being different channels. This included the removal of Toonami since a channel slot was made for it. In exchange, Cartoonito aired during the morning hours before the block was moved to Boomerang.

Closure[]

On New Year's Eve 2011, Cartoon Network Plus closed following a broadcast of The Amazing World of Gumball beginning at 23:10 CET. It was replaced with Cartoonito after a period of silence that lasted seven hours after midnight.
