Located at ice cream shops within Carwardine Parks properties not owned by Carvel, Dairy Queen, or another third party company; though some parks (e.g. Carwardine Colony and AstroWorld) have both a franchise ice cream shop and a in-house one.

History[]

In 1993, the Super Mario ice cream flavor debuted. This was after Chris tasted the Michigan-favorite Superman ice cream after a day at Marquette Woods Park, and felt like something along the lines of it could be a perfect tie-in flavor for the Mario IP. Several ice cream men from the Midwest were flown out to Newport News to teach Carwardine Colony staff to make the flavor. The Super Mario flavor was launched alongside Blue Moon ice cream (aka the “Flash Forward Flavor”), both flavors became a success, with materials for the former often becoming scarse and running out, and lines to eat the ice cream were becoming comparable to lines to riding the most popular rides at Carwardine Colony. Throughout the rest of the summer, a dozen other parks got the two flavors.

In 1997, the Bowser Tail ice cream flavor debuted. This was after Christopher R. Carwardine tasted Tiger Tail ice cream while on vacation in Banff, Alberta, Canada and felt like it would fit the Mario IP just as well as the Superman/Super Mario flavor did. The flavor was a success, with supplies often running out and people waiting in long lines just to try it. Throughout the rest of the summer, a dozen other parks got the flavor.

In 1998, the Princess Peach's Royal Sundae flavor debuted.

In 2018, mobile pay was fully implemented in all the ice cream shops.

Trivia[]

  • Everything is usually made on site. Carwardine Colony's Carwardine Ice Cream Shop touts it's usage of 100% Virginia-sourced milk.
  • Versions of several flavors using non-dairy milk and cream exist.
  • A good majority of flavors offered are Kosher-certified.
  • The name of the flavor "Orange Blossom's Special", while themed after the Strawberry Shortcake character, also acts a reference to both the fiddler's tune "Orange Blossom Special" and to Allen Gaines' pulling truck of the same name (the pulling truck, and Gaines' monster tank of the same name, had participated in "USHRA Days" at Carwardine Colony during the 1980s).
  • In addition to WWE-themed ice cream products, some parks also sell Good Humor WWE Superstars ice cream cookie sandwiches.
