Channel 1 (Thaposian: Kanali Qom; IPA: [qɔnali θom]), sometimes called TRT 1, is a Thaposian terrestrial television channel. It is the oldest television channel in Thaposia and the Iberian Peninsula, launched in 1934.

Channel 1 is Thaposia's most watched channel, receiving around 2.5 million views every year. The channel is available to 90% of all television sets in Thaposia.

History[]

In December 1933, the Thaposian Imperial government introduced television in their country. Four months later, experimental broadcasts for their first channel started. It had no official name until 1935, when it was named "ŞRT Têlævizyênim Têsti Zaştemi", meaning TRT Television Test System".

On February 14, 1939, under the name of "ŞRT Têlævizyênim", TRT 1 was officially launched. It only broadcast 2 hours from Yosong, and usually telecast news and films.

In September 19, 1940, TRT 1 was forced to shut down due to their transmitters being destroyed by the Nazis during World War II. In 1944, the headquarters was destroyed, killing 56 people. In 1946, one year after WWII ended, the headquarters were reconstructed.

On April 14, 1947, TRT 1 returned to the air. It only aired news and current affairs until 1950, when TRT 2 was launched, and news programming moved there.

TRT 1 continued broadcasting general programming during the 1950s. In 1968, experimental color broadcasts began. It started regular color broadcasts on May 1975, as color television widespread around Yosong and Şaxargæğ.

After the imperial government was replaced by a republic in 1976, TRT 1 was renamed to Channel One, and private television was legalized.
