The Characters Football League (CRFL) was an American football league that played from 2003-2006. The league introduced team sponsorships from well-known children's media franchises and characters, and used the slogan "Toons can tackle, can't they?" It was founded by serial entrepreneur Jim Jorgensen, mangaka Min Ayahana, children's television producer Arlene Klasky, and Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson.

History

CRFL was announced in a press conference in New York City at Radio City Music Hall in 2002. In 2003, two test games were played at the Astrodome and Ralph Wilson Stadium two weeks following the broadcast of a promo played following Kids for Character: We Are Family.
