Background and history[]

Arban Feng was originally an obscure rapper within his native country, Pansaura, mostly known amongst the country's Buddhist community, when he was discovered by Second Beat Records A&R man Dennis Annon. Arban was introduced to Charle "Captain V" Vikström and Johan "JE-Boy" Ellefson, with Dennis and Kåre Berrefjord tasking them with a song to introduce Arban to a world audience with. "Combat" was originally free-styled by Arban in his Oslo hotel room, with Captain V and JE-Boy making additions to the song. Luiza Długosz, Jacek Fiedorowicz, and Barry Berlin were brought in to do some re-writes (as Captain V's English wasn't that good at the time), with Jacek contributing the song's spoken verse (which he had written in Sharpie "in the depths of the third draft of the lyrics").

"Combat" was recorded at Heart Beat Studios in Oslo, Norway.
