Derrick Harlock (9th August, 1923-4th November, 2020) was an English politician, who has served as the president of Jetania since its foundation in 1946 until 2019.
Derrick Harlock was born on 9th August, 1923 in England. When World War II began in 1939, Derrick was nearly forced into becoming a soldier, but fled with a group of strangers to Ghost Island. He was presumed dead until one of his father's colleagues found him living in Ghost Island in February 1945.
After Darlene Gerendez became the new president of Jetania, he fled to Argentina, where he immediately set up a government-in-exile. Despite this, he was still recognized as Jetanian president by the United Kingdom, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Germany, South Korea, Argentina, Switzerland, and Austria until his death.
Harlock was married to Brooke Hayleys from 1944 until her death in 1979. Together, they had four children; Tom (b. 1947), Matrica (b. 1948), Bruce (b. 1950) and Jamie (b. 1959). Bruce was the president of Kuboia from 2007 to 2019.
Later in 1998, Harlock married Pauline Redworth. The two remained married until her death in 2015.
Illness and death
In April 2020, it was reported that Harlock had been diagnosed with coronavirus. However, Harlock's son Bruce revealed that the reports were false. Later in May, however, it was revealed that Harlock was suffering from dementia.
Harlock died in the early hours of 4th November, 2020 at the age of 97. Bruce Harlock spoke upon his father's death by stating "It was terrible for him. He had to go, it was the best for him."
In March 2020, Harlock had requested that, should he die during the coronavirus pandemic, that his funeral does not take place until its over. Because of this, Harlock's family plan to have a private funeral for him during the spring of 2021.
Following Harlock's death, Sterling Alfredson became the last surviving founding member of the Dominion of Ghost Island. Harlock was scheduled to co-host a ceremony celebrating the 75th anniversary of the foundation of Jetania.
