Disney Channel is a British-managed Catalan-language television channel owned by The Walt Disney Company Iberia and co-owned by Televisió De Catalunya in Catalonia.

Similar to the Belgium feed, which broadcast in both French and Dutch, this channel broadcast in both Catalan and Spanish, or with Catalan subtitles when only Spanish audio is available. but at this time only the movies are 90% dubbed in Catalan, while the rest of TV series are dubbed in 30% in Catalan and 50% in Spanish.

Currently, it shares the feed with Disney Channel (Portugal), along with the schedule, with some differences. Before January 7th, 2025, it was formerly shares with Disney Channel (Spain).

It is considered to be a Catalan-language version of the now-defunct Disney Channel (Spain).

History[]

Disney Channel launched as a Catalan-language channel in November 1, 2010 and it also later expanded to Canal+ before it was replaced by Movistar Plus+.

After the channel launched a days and month ago, the channel transitioned from a 4:3 to a 16:9 format, along with the Spanish version on the same year.

In 2021, despite announcements that Disney Channel Spain had not shut down yet, the Catalan version became co-owned by Televisió de Catalunya in Catlonia and was managed by the United Kingdom.

In July 2, 2022, the channel was rebranded along with the Spanish and Portuguese versions in European countries.

In the wake of the shutdown of the Spanish version of the channel in January 2025, Disney announced that it would not shut down the Catalan-language one due to both Televisió de Catalunya and the United Kingdom market being less reliant on cord-cutting than Spain. The same reason also applies to the Portuguese and Latin America version, which following the example of the channel to continue operated despite of the Brazilian Channel closure.
