Emergency message, used since 2011.

The El Kadsre Emergency Public Alert System is a system used in El Kadsre and it's territories, whereby local or municipal authorities can warn the public about impending or current emergencies affecting their area.

The EKEPWS can be activated by local police, fire, and environmental agencies; by the El Kadsreian Weather Bureau; and by other authorities, as required. It can be activated for any of the following reasons:

  • Severe weather
  • Flood
  • Wildfire
  • Hazardous material release
  • Terrorist threat
  • Water contamination
  • AMBER Alert
  • Other threats to life, property and safety.

The EKEPWS uses the Standard Emergency Warning Signal, much like Australia.

History

The EKEPWS was launched in 1992 and was initially operated by El Kadsreian Skywarn using a system of Code-A-Phone Model 3390 telephones hooked up to custom-designed signal intrusion devices. In 2001, it switched operations from Skywarn to public authorities and the technology was switched to custom, purpose-built, Windows NT/2000 PCs employing custom-designed graphics/sound expansion cards and remote signal intrusion circuits, which was then replaced in 2011 by digital custom, purpose-built, Windows XP PCs employing custom-designed graphics/sound expansion cards and remote signal intrusion circuits as analog television signals shut off in El Kadsre. In 2014, the XP-based equipment began being upgraded to run off either Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.
