EuroMedia is a Euro Republican based mass media company owned by TVVT and Modern Times Group, Virgin Group, Hearst Communications, MediaWorks, Bauer, News UK, Wireless Group, Discovery Inc. and BBC Studios.

History

In 1987, EuroMedia was founded to be the parent company of a possible new third channel which eventually launched as TV3. In 1992, they acquired Granada Television (ITV’s North West affiliate) and the year after, they acquired Canal+ Group, expanding their service into France. This expanded in 1998 when 20% of Swedish company TV4 AB from Bonnier. In 2003, they got access to the entire ITV. Then in 2005, for 5 million euros, they bought the Australian Nine Network. In November 2005, EuroMedia and Telefónica reached a deal to be owned by the same companies. In 2010, after an attempted buyout by BSkyB, EuroMedia bought Virgin Media Television, and was renamed Living TV Group in the process. In 2015, EuroMedia bought 50% of RTL Group from Bertelsmann, this gave them access to FremantleMedia shows. They eventually merged with said company in 2018. This caused the Fremantle Euro Republics company to rebrand as 3Labs. They are currently pending in acquiring the UK‘s Channel 5 from ViacomCBS to merge it with their ITV operations. They previously were interested in buying El Kadsre’s Banushen Media Corporation from MatsuMedia but left them alone. An acquisition of DPG Media (owners of Belgium‘s VTM) is pending and will be complete by May 1, 2020. On April 1, 2020, EuroMedia acquired New Zealand television network Three from MediaWorks New Zealand. It is due to rebrand with the Euro Republics Three logo and branding later in 2020. On April 23, 2020, it bought news organisation Reuters for an estimated 15.5 million euros. They are interested in buying Viva Inc. in El Kadsre and are thinking about buying the entirety of Thomson Reuters Group. On Thursday, May 7, 2020, with the announcement of O2 (whose owners, Telefonica, were owned by EuroMedia) and Virgin Media merging, EuroMedia announced it would move Living TV Group into the Virgin Media UK part of the group and renamed Virgin Media Television.
