Family Time Studio is an American live-action children's edutainment series produced by Doggy Day Productions and NHK International, in association with Nickelodeon. The series is based on the Japanese television series Okaasan to Issho (おかあさんといっしょ). It was originally filmed at Nickelodeon Studios from 1994 to 2005 (at one month before the studio's closure) and later at Doggy Day Studios (the former production company's studio) in Brooklyn, New York from April 2005 to present. The series premiered on Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. block in 1994 (later airing on Noggin as reruns from February 2, 1999 to September 27, 2009) and on its aforementioned channel counterpart since September 28, 2009.

The show went on be nominated for several Emmy Awards, Annie Awards (for the show's animated segments), and Sylvania Awards over the years. It has won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Series twice, in 2005 and 2016; its second win breaking the 8-year tie between Sesame Street and Barney & Friends.

Footnotes[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 In this co-production, the brothers and sisters are portrayed by teenagers aged 13-15.
  2. Both Monoran Monoran (モノランモノラン) and Fantane! (ファンターネ!) were not aired in this adaptation, and were replaced with two original puppet segments instead. And unlike the former, "Pet Planet!" ran for longer than 2011.
  3. Deko Boko Friends was the only Okaasan to Issho cartoon to not air as a segment in this version, due to it already airing as an interstitial program on both Noggin and Nick Jr. at the time.
  4. Aired as a "mini-segment".
  5. Based on the 1993 video game Plok!, and was the only segment on Family Time Studio to be based on a video game.
  6. This segment was done in a similar format to the "Yagisan Yūbin Request" segment (やぎさんゆうびん・リクエスト), from the original series (which was first aired around the same year as the American version). But instead of having two puppet characters of goats, they were instead replaced with sheep, since the American segment wanted it to be based on "Baa Baa Black Sheep".
  7. This was a new mini-segment produced for the co-production, and was based on the original Japanese version's first costume-puppet segment, "Boo Foo Woo" (ブーフーウー).
