Nippon Channel (Japanese: 日本チャンネル; Nippon channeru; lit. Japan Channel), stylized as 日本, is a YinYangian free-to-air Japanese language television channel owned by YBC. It is the main competitor of New Kasukabe Television.

It is the only YBC channel to not use the diamond-format logo.

History[]

To compete with NKTV, TBC launched TBC Nippon in 1984, but was only available on satellite and cable, due to the rise of satellite and cable television in the Toralaq Republic. TBC wanted the channel to gain more ratings than NKTV, so they aired hit Japanese movies.

But the opposite of their expectation happened, when NKTV aired Super Sentai in 1985. TBC Nippon ended up as a market failure and was shut down in 1990 due to extremely low ratings.

Ten years later, on February 2000, NTVC relaunched their Japanese-language channel, under the name of Nippon Channel. This time, the channel managed to gain success.

In 2017, Nippon Channel sued Sony Gem for airing Gokusen, which is also aired on their channel, but lost. Because of this, Nippon Channel was forced to take Gokusen off their schedule.
