The 'Hakurei Shrine' (Japanese: 博麗神社; Hepburn: 'Hakurei-jinja') is an arena that appears in the Super Smash Keyboards, Killer Minecraft, and Super Smash Bros. series of fighting games, based on the Touhou Project series of maniac shooters. As suggested by the name, players fight in an open space at the Hakurei Shrine. Players can jump on top of the roof and the shrine is completely destructable, which by supernatural means, can rebuild itself.
The stage first appeared as an unlockable stage in Ultimate Super Smash Keyboards 2, as an event battle for Kagami and Tsukasa at the Hakurei Shrine, which unlocks the stage if completed. Reimu Hakurei is fought here for her unlocking battle in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Keyboards 8, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The characters battle in the courtyard of the Hakurei Shrine. Players can jump on top of the shrine and its nearby treetops. The shrine can be destroyed if the player attacks the nearby pillars. Through supernatural means, the shrine rebuilds itself if both pillars are destroyed.
The shrine is loosely based on the real Hakurei Shrine from the Touhou Project series, where Reimu Hakurei has always lived.
The Hakurei Shrine has always been banned in all appearances due to walk-off blast lines at both ends of the stage, the shrine's roof and the treetops can also promote camping.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The shrine that Reimu Hakurei has always lived in. As a shrine maiden, she has the ability to fend off all evil that attempts to go near the shrine. In Smash, the shrine's courtyard is a stage, with destructible pillars and nearby treetops you can jump on!
