The story tells if Rod Roddy hasn't been dead. On October 27, 2003, Rod Roddy will continue announcing The Price is Right, and it will continue announcing until 2007. However, because of Randy's own game show commitments (included The Big Spin), Rod asked other announcers to fill in. These include Shadoe Stevens, Rich Fields, 1985 tryout announcer Bob Hilton, John Cramer, the then-retired Charlie Tuna, former Let's Make a Deal 2003 announcer Elizabeth Oakes, then-future Let's Make a Deal 2009 announcer Jonathan Mangum, Don Morrow and Gary Kroeger often filled in for Rod. However, in 2005, Endemol USA hired Rod to announce Deal or No Deal during the entire run. However, during the 2005-06 season, longtime CBS staff announcer Bern Bennett filled in for Rod for four weeks. In 2006, he was the announcer of the seven-episode prime time CBS game show Gameshow Marathon hosted by Ricki Lake. In 2007, shortly just before Bob Barker was retired from The Price is Right, Rod left the show to work for GSN, which announced original programs. Rod confirmed that he did not return for the 2007-08 season of The Price is Right. Instead, Randy West became the permanent announcer. In 2010, after the death of longtime announcer Charlie O'Donnell, Rod Roddy and his friend Randy West was one of the sub-announcing jobs on Wheel of Fortune. However despite Rod announced 11 episodes and Randy announcing the other 9, Wheel of Fortune EP Harry Friedman said that Rod took the announcing job and he liked the best. Rod announced Wheel starting in 2011. In 2011, he would also announce Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza for GSN. As of today, Rod Roddy is still alive at the age of 77.
