Jan Pär Antons Rathsman (born January 2, 1973) is a Swedish singer and musician. He is best known as the founder of the pop rock band Primrose.

Early life[]

Rathsman was born on January 2, 1973 in Uppsala. He was interested in the guitar even before he began school. Rathsman's first contact with the band the Cars was in 1982 with the Shake It Up album. He was a passionate fan of the Cars, and he was often bullied at school because of this. He attended his first concert in 1985 when the Cars played at Gränbyhallen on the European leg of the Heartbeat City tour.

Rathsman's aunt Gunilla, one of his closest family members during his upbringing, was one of the detainees of the hijacked British Airways Flight 149 in 1990. She developed post-traumatic stress disorder after being released from captivity and committed suicide by jumping from Skanstullsbron bridge in Stockholm in 1993, an event which deeply distressed and saddened Rathsman.
