Julian Bai (Chinese: 朱利安白; Zhū lì'ān Bái; born October 10, 1968) is a Tsengian singer-songwriter and actor. He is one of the members of the Tsengge Eight, having several hits in the 1990s, the most notable ones being "Forty Roses" and "Forever Love".
Early life[]
Bai was born prematurely in Lang Cit, Cadasa, to Chinese Cadasans. At the age of 2, the Bai family moved and settled in Tseng City. At age 18, Bai dropped out of university after an argument with his professor, who had insulted Bai.

Bai was dishonorably discharged from the Tsengian Army after an altercation in 1987. Bai was disowned by his family members, and kicked Bai out. Then, his life was very hard. He lived under a bridge and worked many low-paying jobs to support himself. Then, in early 1988, he became a nightclub singer for a pub in Minzhu District. He was noticed by Cooper Chao, who was there at the time, and later persuaded Bai to sign a contract with Zenghe Inc.
It wasn't until Bai's third album, which was Forty Roses (1991), that he became popular, selling 1 million copies. Then, his next album, Listen (1992) sold 700,000 copies. However, after these two albums, Bai's 1998 album Forever Love sold 500,000 copies and continued Bai's reputation as one of the top singers.
During the period from 1992-1998, Bai was very (and still) popular in the film industry. He was nominated for the Golden Horse Awards once and the Spring Festival Film Awards 5 times, but he never won an award.
In 2005, Bai accidentally fell off the stage during a performance in Singapore on a tour of Southeast Asia, and was required to be hospitalized for upper body injuries. The event damaged his vocal cords, and Bai retired from music the following year.
Bai continued to act in cameos and minor roles in films.
Politics[]
Julian Bai is also active in politics, being a member of the National Prosperity Party since the 1990s. He describes himself as a "right-wing centrist", and is socially liberal, fiscally conservative. In the 2016 election, he ran for a seat in the National State Assembly, and announced that he would run for the presidency in the upcoming 2024 election in September 2023.
