Owned by Interstate Media, the station's studios are located on South Leetsdale Drive in Glendale (with a Denver mailing address), while its transmitter is located atop Lookout Mountain in Golden.
History[]
K-Love[]
On April 30, 1995, K-Love would launch its services in Colorado with the launch of KLDV. The service, owned by Educational Media Foundation had initially served only the state of California but the station's launch was part of an effort by EMF to expand the brand throughout the Western United States. Like most other K-Love stations, it was a non-commercial radio station and carried a Christian adult contemporary format. However, like other K-Love stations at the time, it ran directly from the network's flagship station KLVR in Santa Rosa, California.
99.3 The Dove[]
On October 5, 2000, Colorado Christian University sold KWBI in Morrison, Colorado to EMF. EMF opted to keep KWBI, which had a stronger signal and sold KLDV to a joint-venture between Salem Media Group and Interstate Broadcasting known as Independent Radio. Following the sale, KWBI would immediately adopt the KLDV call-letters while the original KLDV became KDVL. The station was immediately began stunting after the sale playing the sound of a ticking clock with the repeating message "Stay tuned on this Friday the 13th for something different".
8 days later on October 13, 2000, KDVL returned as "99.3 The Dove" retaining its Christian AC format albeit with a commercial license. Unlike other Salem-owned Christian AC stations, it didn't use The Fish as the name was done to promote itself to a non-Christian audience. In mid-2002, Independent Radio was acquired by Interstate Broadcasting outright. However, many Independent Radio-owned stations remained independently ran from Interstate's regular radio stations for the time-being.
Throughout the station's tenure as "99.3 The Dove", it would play Christmas music from November 1 to December 25 every year since 2001. This practice was also done by AC station KOSI and Modern AC station KALC. The three stations would often compete in the ratings around the Christmas season, although KDVL tended to attract more Christian listeners.
99-3X[]
On March 20, 2009, KDVL alongside several other stations were transferred from Independent Radio to Interstate Broadcasting as Interstate had plans to close its Independent Radio division. A month later, KDVL would begin simulcasting KWGN-FM for about 5 days. After the simulcast ended on March 25, the station would flip to dance-focused format known as "99-3X". The first station to play on "99-3X" was "Get Ready for This" by 2 Unlimited. The station was one of the first major radio stations to carry a dance-focused format.
In contrast to its original Christian AC format, the station's dance format attracted a lot of queer listeners as the dance genre was popular amongst people in the LGBT community. The station would formally adopt the KXDC call-letters on April 1, 2009 after a joke stunt where it briefly switched to a "novelty music" radio station for 2 hours.
99.3 Jack FM[]
On November 9, 2014, after playing "Clear The Floor" by Monkey Boy, KXDC briefly aired a message redirecting viewers to KWGN-FM before starting to stunt with commercial-free Christmas music as "Happy Holidays @ 99.3 FM". On December 26 at 10:00 am, the station flipped to adult hits as "99.3 Jack FM". This marks the third time the format/moniker has been used in the Denver market, the first time being on KJAC (105.5) from April 2004 until September 2012, when it flipped to ESPN Radio, and the second being on KDHT (107.1) from December 2012 until March 2014, when it flipped to alternative rock.
