KXUU is a radio station licensed to Estes Park, Colorado and serving the Denver and Fort Collins-Greeley areas on 102.1 FM. The station is owned by Interstate Media and airs an urban contemporary format branded as U102. KXUU is the Denver home of The Steve Harvey Morning Show. It's weekend morning drive-time show, The U102 Express, is one of Denver's highest-rated weekend radio shows.
The station's studios are located on South Leetsdale Drive in Glendale (with a Denver mailing address), while its transmitter is located atop Lookout Mountain in Golden.
History[]
KXUU went on the air in 1998 and, after a two-year stint as a local station for Estes Park known as "102.1 K-Rocky" (KRKI), flipped to Top 40 as "U102" under new calls KXUU. The Top 40 format lasted only a few weeks and quickly gave way to Rhythmic CHR under the same name, largely due to new competition from cross-town KFMD 95.7 ("Kiss FM"). U102 slightly adjusted its format to urban contemporary in 2003.
