There have been many rumors, misconceptions, and urban legends regarding false information.

This is meant only for fictional games.

Hyper Amy Sisters on NES - There are rumors about unlocking a gun store once you beat the game 2 times.
Fishing Simulator - There are rumors about unlocking hell mode.

A Dog's Room - There are rumors about unlocking a killer dog who says the F-word many times, this was false due to the game's E rating.
Super Stickventures - There are rumors about an expert mode, this wouldn't be included until Stickventures DS, which was released a decade later.

Pocket Stickventures 2 - There are rumors about unlocking color, this was false until Stickventures Advance was released.

EKBA 2000 - There was a rumor that if you beat the Career mode on Legendary difficulty, Susumu Takajima would jumpscare you. This was proven true in 2013 on Joshua von Schweetz's Twitter account.
ME-Tan's World - There are rumors about unlocking a special Famicom cartridge in the Japanese version once you beat the game at 100%, the cartridge is a prototype build of Hoshi no Kabyi 4, and it would be sent to the player, this was false as the GBA couldn't handle this.
Futaba Racers - There are rumors about unlocking Mario in the Japan-exclusive Super Famicom version, this may stem from the files of the game, this was false due to copyright issues.

OS-BAM! - There are rumors about the game being censored to reach its M rating, this was false as the game was quickly removed from the DSi shop and remained lost for years.

Honest Trailers: The Video Game - There are rumors about unlocking a Pop Team Epic statue once the player reaches 2018 points, referencing the year it was first aired, to activate the statue, you must enter the password, and that the password was TV-MA, a reference to the show's age rating, this was false due to copyright issues.

Mario Kart X - Inputting the Konami code on the final lap of a track would unlock Shrek.
