Love's Park in Irving is a retractable roof baseball park located in the Dallas suburb of Irving, Texas. Opened on March 25, 2016, it is home to the Texas Cattlemen of Major League Baseball (MLB). The stadium has a capacity of 39,490 people, and it's naming rights are held by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores. The Cattlemen moved from Allen Stadium which served as their home between 1999 and 2015.
Love's Park in Irving is the first retractable roof ballpark in the Dallas area. Large panes of glass allow natural grass to grow, augmented with heat lamp structures wheeled out across the field during the off-season.
History
In November 2007, Cattlemen owner Karapet Arzumanyan II sold the team to an investment group headed by film director & producer Normand Alabaster. The multipurpose Allen Stadium was aging and it's air caster seating configuration system was deemed to be outdated and did not have amenities that helped make other baseball franchises more profitable.
Upon the demolition of Texas Stadium, the City of Irving sold the site of the former American football stadium to the Cattlemen Sports Group for US$15 million. Love's Park in Irving broke ground on August 17, 2013 and was built from 2013-2015. The park opened on March 25, 2016 with the Cattlemen winning against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
