Luciania (/lusiˈɑniə/), officially the Federated States of Luciania (Spanish: Estados Federados de Luciania, Polish: Sfederowane Stany Lucianii, Luciani: Stados Federados de Luciania), is a federal country in Dischia, bordered to the west, north and south by the Pacific Ocean, and to the east by Josesia and the landlocked Funtenia, the latter of which being a former fascist state that wasn't recognized by Luciania, nor by the European Union, Israel, the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth of Nations, the NATO or the United Nations, until transitioning to democracy; both of these countries gained independence during the 2023 Lucianian coup d'état attempt. The country is a federal unit owned by a democratic left-wing government. The country gained independence from the Spanish empire in 1813, and was occupied by the Soviet Union during World War II, and after the war, Luciania became a socialist state separate from the USSR, and became a neutral country during the cold war, later transitioning into a social-democracy in November 2022; additionally, in 1936, its then-state Funtenia was the first territory to be annexed by the third Reich, with a fascist dictatorship that continued until its transition to democracy in 2023.
Luciania is the largest country in the entire continent of Dischia, even after being split, being populated by 15,750,000 people. Spanish and Luciani are chosen as official languages, although English, German, Russian and Polish are also accepted as regional languages; the latter became popular after many Poles immigrated to Luciania during World War I. Luciania is notably one of the most developed countries in the Dischian continent, and even has various free-trade zones.
Etymology[]
The name is derived from the emperor Lucian IV, who goberned the Lucianic Empire during the 19th century before becoming a republic. The "-ia" is a very common suffix in country names, such as India, Bolivia, and Colombia.

Pre-hispanic period[]
The first trace of now-Lucianian territory dates back to over two million years, and the oldest surviving trace being fossils discovered during the Hispanic period.
Romans entered the country during the 3rd century. Besides exporting goods from the Roman empire, at least two cemeteries were also built.
The first known trace of the Machupa people in Luciania dates to the 12th century and was discovered in 1925, being a text book written in their indigenous language.
Annexation by the Spanish empire[]

In the 15th century, Cristobal Colón came to a land with Machupa people after conquering America, and as a result, was annexed by the Spanish empire, becoming part of the New Spain viceroyalty.
During its Spanish times, the indigenous population lowered from 10 million to 3 million during a 300-year period.
As a result of the annexation, many indigenous people began hiding to avoid getting discovered by the Spaniards.
Additionally, Spanish was also implemented as an official language.

On January 2, 1809, the former Machupa territory gained independence from the Spanish empire and formed its own empire, the Lucianic Empire, consisting of what is now the entire continent of Dischia, excluding Yanoland, which was instead annexed by France in the Middle Age, before gaining independence during the French Revolution. Lucian IV served as the emperor.
The empire was split into three territories: Luciania, Gabesia and Boxland.
In 1811, British and Australian immigrants came to the country, and after an area mainly consisted of English speakers, formed the state of New Sydney.
During 1812, the Lucianian revolution occurred, as a result of issues with the royal system.
Independence[]
On September 14, 1813, after the Lucianian revolution, Luciana became a federal republic and its former cities now became states.
After independence, many indigenous populations were going out of their homes and taking care of themselves, mainly including the Machupa people.
In 1853, an earthquake occurred in its capital state of Hebin, killing at least 15,000 people and at least 5,000 being lost, with at least 100 bodies discovered in the later years.
World War I[]
- Main article: Luciania in World War I
During World War I, Luciania began having many immigrants, mainly including soldiers. Notably, several immigrants came from Poland, so the Polish language began becoming widespread, therefore forming the state of Bakar. The first military base outside of the capital stae of Hebin was built in Bakar, on January 2, 1916.
Great Depression[]
In 1929, an economic crisis was reported in Dischian, affecting Luciania. As a result, the former Lucianian peso had to be replaced with a new currency, the Hebie, in 1931.
In 1936, its then-state Funtenia was annexed by Nazi Germany, becoming its first annexed state, two years before Austria and three years before Poland; the nazis came there using a private airplane and began claiming it as part of the German territory. During the Nazi occupation, over 10,000 jews died in concentration camps. Fearing that the rest of the country might get occupied, Adolf Hitler was declared persona non gratta in Luciania and various anti-nazi propaganda posters were put on streets by political parties, as well as the construction of the Funtenia-Luciania border.
World War II[]
- Main article: Soviet occupation of Luciania
In 1939, when Funtenia was still under German occupation, the rest of Luciania was annexed by the Soviet Union in order to further defend themselves, forming the Lucianian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. During the occupation, the persona non gratta restriction given to Hitler expanded to nazis in general and all political parties were abolished, excluding the Lucianian Communist Party, which during wartime, merged with the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Aditionally, anti-nazism also became bigger in Luciania, with propaganda posters from the communist party appearing in various places.
On March 13, 1940, the state of New Moscow was recognized, forming Russian as a regional language.
During the war, there was conflicts between the Nazi-occupied Funtenia and the Soviet-occupied mainland Luciania; over 30,000 slavs (including 27,000 communists) were killed in Funtenia and sent to concentration camps during wartime, mostly in the Funtenian capital of Mirkana.
Socialist government[]
On May 8, 1945, after the Soviet Union declared victory over Nazi Germany, Felipe Chávez began governing the country, and Luciania now became a socialist state separate from the USSR. Additionally, it was discovered that the State of Funtenia had already gained independence from Nazi Germany in 1944 and was governed by Rudolf Voss, a former member of the Schutzstaffel. This led to the 1945 Lucianian war, in which mainland Luciania declared war over Funtenia; mainland Luciania later won and some formerly Funtenian cities were annexed by the states of Fernandia, Salada and West Josesia.
On February 6, 2005, Felipe Chávez died of a brain tumor, causing him to be replaced by his son Ignacio Chávez.
On March 19, 2020, the country went under quarantine for a year after the first COVID-19 case was discovered; during that time period, for two and a half years, safety masks were requiered for going outside.
Transition to social-democracy[]
- Main article: 2022 Lucianian transition to social-democracy
On November 27, 2022, Ignacio Chávez died of a heart attack, and was legally declared dead at the Hebin Hospital. Luciano Aguilera, from the Lucianian Social Democratic Party, was later chosen the new president of Luciania, establishing a transition to social-democracy, and for the first time in history, started permitting elections from 2026 and onwards.
On January 9, 2023, after the 2023 Nicolandic bombing, the former Republic of Nicoland, which entered a huge economic crisis as a result, sold its entire territory to Luciania, therefore becoming the State of Nicoland.
Separation[]
- Main article: 2023 Lucianian coup d'état attempt
Initially, the country had Josesia as a region cosisting of 9 states: Northwest Josesia, North Josesia, Northeast Josesia, East Josesia, Southeast Josesia, South Josesia, Southwest Josesia, West Josesia and Middle Josesia.
However, on March 22, 2023, a military group in Josesia has starting to attempt a coup d'état in the country and started a small war, although Luciania lost; as a result of the loss, the country was split into three: the West-located Luciania, the East-located Josesia, and the smallest and only landlocked country in Dischia, the National Socialist Republic of Funtenia.
Whereas Luciania and Josesia were democratic states, Funtenia wasn't, instead remaining the nazi ideologies leftover during its German occupation, so it is governed by a neo-nazi, named Funolf Timwig, whose parents were former Schutzstaffel members. Luciania didn't recognize Funtenia as an independent country, nor did the European Union, Israel, the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth of Nations, the NATO or the United Nations. Additionally, Luciania has banned pro-Nazi imagery in non-historical contexts, which therefore made most Funtenian material illegal.
On June 30, 2023, Zacken, a city that originally belonged to northwest Funtenia, was annexed by Luciania, therefore becoming a state and ending the fascist dictatorship there.
On September 29, 2023, after Funtenia transitioned to democracy, with a new left-wing and more lenient president, Luciania began recognizing it as an independent state. That same day, the country was sanctioned by Josesia and Gabesia after said countries received military coups d'état, and are therefore no longer recognized as independent countries by the Lucianian government, and outlawing the importation of illegal products now accepted in Josesia and Gabesia (e.g. counterfeit DVDs and bootleg game consoles). On April 18, 2024, after Josesia transitioned to democracy, Luciania now recognized it back as an independent nation. On June 13, 2024, Luciania also started recognizing Gabesia back as an independent nation, after another transition to deomcracy.
Politics[]
Luciania is a federal social-democratic nation. Its current president is Luciano Aguilera, from the Lucianian Social Democratic Party, with its vice-president being Gustavo Michelini. The seat of the president is Señor Presidente.
As per a federal law established after the transition to social-democracy, presidential elections should take place within 4-year gaps starting July 2, 2026, and the winning candidate should become president within 4-year gaps starting November 27, 2026.
Law and criminal justice[]
The Court of Luciania is composed of two judges: one by the president, and the other by the vice-president. It is also responsible for approving law abolitions, and aims to create laws based on criminal offense previously committed.
There are two types of laws in Luciania: federal law and state law. Federal laws are more common, whereas state laws are rarer and only tend to cover small topics that aren't seen as federal problems.
As per federal laws, 18 is set at the legal age of majority, and also as the minimum age to drink alcoholic drinks, smoke, age of consent and drive without adult supervision (with adult supervision, the driving age is 16). The legal retirement age is set at 65 for all genders. For health and safety reasons, Lucianians can only legally smoke five cigarettes a day, and the purchase of each cigarette must be registered to the Lucianian Ministry of Health; smoking more than five cigarette a day may result in the culprit being sent to a hospital. Sales of cannabis is illegal outside of medical purposes, and cannot be consumed. A wide variety of drugs are also banned, once again for health and safety reasons.
Notoriously, Luciania was one of the first countries to prohibit discrimination regarding race, gender, sexuality and nationality. Luciania was the first Dischian country to have laws in which female products should have the same prices as their male counterparts, and vice versa, and Luciania was also one of the first Dischian countries to legalize LGBT rights, in 1945, and the first Dischian country to recognize same-sex marriage, in 1993.
Foreign relations, defence and security[]
The country often has relations with Chile, Australia, Sakaria, Poland and El Kadsre, as well as other Dischian nations such as Yanoland. Luciania is a full member of the Union of Dischian Nations, the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund.
The country's first military base was built on March 4, 1890 in Hebin, followed by a second military base built in Bakar during World War I. After World War II, various military bases were built in various states. People aged 18 to 45 are allowed to enter military service, which is optional in Luciania, except during the two world wars.
The Government of Luciania has been establishing laws to improve security in the country. The government and private entities have bought over 2,000,000 security cameras with artificial intelligence from Swiss company Verisure as of June 2025, in order to improve security in Lucianian places (mainly public places).
Geography[]
Maps featuring the states of Luciania.
The country is divided into 13 states (including two landlocked states and one island state). It is the largest country in Dischia, even after being split.
The capital and largest state is Hebin, and on the opposite, the smallest is Zacken, which before June 30, 2023, belonged to the then-dictatorial Funtenia. The two landlocked states are the aforementioned Zacken (Funtenia as a whole is also landlocked), as well as Achu Sanu (named after the Machupa word for "no sea") and Salada. The state of Medila is the only Lucianian state to not be on the main territory, instead being an island state. Nicoland was originally its own country, but became a Lucianian state after being bombed on January 9, 2023.
Economy[]
Hebies are used as the main and official currency. They were adopted in 1931, replacing the Lucianian peso due to an econimc crisis that occurred during the Great Depression.
Luciania is considered one of the most developed nations in the Dischian continent, alongisde Yanoland. Luciania also has various free-trade zones, which help reduce the prices of exported goods. Some international companies even established Lucianian factories so that their products can be sold in the Dischian continent at lower prices, such as Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Panasonic, Samsung, LG and Apple. The country has very low economic inflation levels, which therefore helps growing the Lucianian economy.
Demographics[]
Luciania is the most populated country in the Dischian continent, with a population of 140,750,000 people.
The official federal languages of Lucinia are Spanish and Luciani. English was adopted as an official language in New Sydney, and Polish in Bakar. Russian was also adopted in New Moscow, due to it being founded during the Soviet occupation, as well as German as an official language in Zacken, due to, prior to its annexation by Luciaina, originally belonging to Funtenia, which also has German as its official language. German is also spoken by minorities in Fernandia and Salada, especially after both states annexed some Funtenian cities following the 1945 Lucianian war. A Francophone minority is also present in Hebin, mainly thanks to its proximity with Yanoland.
Its biggest religion is Catholicism, although Orthodoxy and Protestantism are also common in rare cases. Jews are also prevalent as a minority, mostly in former Funtenian cities annexed during the 1945 Lucianian war, as well as Zacken, after being liberated from concentration camps.
Education[]
Children from 4 to 18 are required by law to go to school. School hours are from 8 AM to 1:30 PM pre-lunch, and 2:15 PM to 3:45 PM post-lunch, and take place between Monday and Friday. Like Chile, the grading system is from 1 to 7 (a 1 grade equating to an F-, and a 7 to an A+).
The country has some well-known universities, which also invested in the media:
- University of Luciania: The first ever university in Luciania, founded in 1815. It is the only publicly-owned federal university in Luciania. It manages the TV station UDL TV, which became one of the most viewed TV channels in Luciania, and most notably has the Lucianian televison broadcast rights to the BuzzFeed web series Chikn Nuggit, leading to its major Lucianian popularity. It is one of the most well-known universities in Luciania, often being ranked high in lists of best universities.
- Catholic University Of Luciania: Founded in 1893, it is a somewhat major ally of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. It is the first private university in Luciania. It manages the TV station UCDL TV, which similarly also tends to export programs from Canal 13, due it being formerly owned by the aforementioned Chilean university, with the most popular in Luciania being El Mundo del Profesor Rossa.
Transport[]
- Main article: Visa requirements for Lucianian citizens
The country has ports to go to other countries, such as Chile, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and many other countries.
The first subway station network in Luciania is Hebin Metro, covering the entire state of Hebin and first built in 1968. This later inspired other states to built their own subway networks.
The first international airport in Luciania was built in 1919, being the Sánchez airport, named after then-president José Sánchez. That same year, the first airline company in Luciania, Aerolíneas Luciania, was founded, and in 1960, merged with other Dischian airline companies to form Dischia Airlines; after the 2023 Lucianian bombings, the airline company suffered from economic issues, leading to 55% of the company being purchased by LATAM Airlines.
The country had visa requirements on Gabesia and Josesia during their military dictatorships, with increasing demand after borth countries' transitions to democracy on June 13, 2024 and April 18, 2024, respectively. Additionally, dictatorial countries, such as the People's Republic of China, Cuba and Venezuela requiere a visa (although for those nations, there was no visa requierement prior to 2022), whereas countries that are currently participating in war, such as Russia and Israel, are disallowed. Ukraineand Palestine were also disallowed during their respective wars until July 17, 2024, when they were allowed, albeit with visa requierements.
Media and technology[]
Print media[]
There are several newspapers in Luciania: the most popular newspaper in the country is Luciapaper, founded in 1950 as a private newspaper. Another notable private newspaper is Periódico Max, from Grupo Max, starting its circulation in 1978. El Mercurio de Luciania also exists as the Lucianian version of the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio.
The state-owned newspaper in Luciania is Periódico Luciania.
Film[]
In 1899, the country's oldest movie theater opened in Hebin, named the Carlos theater. During its first year, it attracted over 1 million people, to the point where movie tickets were selling out very fast.
In 1919, Luciania Animación was founded as one of the first animation studios outside of the United States. In the 1940s, it also started functioning as a design agency, and would go on to become one of the biggest animation studios in the South Pacific.
Radio[]
- Main article: Radio in Luciania
In 1925, the country started its first radio transmissions, through the Luciania Radio network. Before that, radio transmissions were available from Chile since 1923 (carryable in what is now Josesia) and from Australia since 1921. Later, two university-owned radio stations began, currently as UDL Radio and UCDL Radio, launching in 1929 and 1933, respectively.
During the Soviet occupation, Luciania Radio was also simulcast in Russian.
In 1945, FM radio was introduced in Luciania, using American equipment. The FM radio frequencies used are from 88 to 97.8 FM for federal stations, and 98 FM to 107.8 FM for regional stations. Luciania only uses even frequencies for FM radio, and doesn't use 87 to 87.8 FM due to those frequencies already being used by television channel 6 (even having the audio hearable at 87.7 FM), belonging to UDL TV's Luciani-language feed in Hebin, Achu Sanu and Ilen Musa. In 1964, FM stereo was introduced.
On April 10, 2023, digital radio was introduced with the Japanese ISDB-Tsb standard. AM radio simulcasts were also shutdown on January 7, 2024, with only shortwave and former AM-exclusive stations surviving, and the former frequencies now used for digital radio. It applied at a federal level, and was successful, as over 98% of Lucianians have FM radio tuners. During the digital television transition, the former AM-exclusive radio stations would expand to FM radio in some states using frequencies that originally belonged to VHF TV channel 6 (used by UDL TV's Luciani-language feed in Hebin, Achu Sanu and Ilen Musa), from 87.0 to 87.8 Mhz, as well as on 108.0 Mhz, the highest frequency allowed on most FM radio tuners.
On August 7, 2022, Luciania Radio was renamed to NacionalRadio, as part of a government effort of rebranding the public media, and unifying them under the Nacional name.
Television[]
- Main article: Television in Luciania
On March 4, 1938, the first Lucianian television network, Tele Luciania, launched. Its first transmissions were made with the 441-line television system.
In 1939, Tele Luciania was rebranded to Televisión Luciánica in 1939, offering Russian-language simulcasts in a 6-year period, and then Tele Felipe in 1945. That same year, Lucianska Telewizja Polska became the first privately-owned and regional TV station in the country. Initially broadcast on VHF channel 1, it was re-allocated to channel 13 in 1941, and then moved to UHF channel 14 in 1953, leading to the federal launch of UCDL TV. In 1941, Lucianian TV networks switched to the 525-line standard, later named CCIR System M, providing a higher-resolution image. Decoders were sold, though they were rare, as television was still a small medium back then.
The first university-owned channel, as well as the second to launch on the VHF band, was UDL TV on September 9, 1945, owned by the University of Luciania. It became one of the most-viewed federal networks in Luciania with the rise of television during the 1950s.
The third publicly-owned channel, and the third to launch on the VHF band, was UCDL TV, owned by the Catholic University of Luciania, starting its broadcasts on November 23, 1953.
On January 4, 1979, color TV broadcasts started on Tele Felipe with the NTSC-M standard; before that, they were available from the Chile since 1978, Gabesia since 1973 (carryable in what is now Josesia), the former Republic of Nicoland since 1978, and from Australia since 1967 and Yanoland since 1969, the latter two using PAL-B and SECAM-F, respectively. This later expanded to UDL TV and single-language independent regional stations on February 1, UCDL TV and UCF TV on March 31, TV Fernandia, Josesia Televisión and the LRTO on August 27, and every remaining station on December 5. Before that, the government was not sure about which color standard should be chosen, and a survey about which standard is the most supported by imported color TV sets in Luciania; NTSC won, and was hence adopted in 1979, and before that, test transmissions were made in 1978 on NTSC-M, PAL-M and SECAM-M on the now-forbidden UHF channels 70-83.
During that time period, Scanimate was being used more frequently, firstly UDL TV, and eventually other networks adopted it.
On January 6, 1980, Max TV started airing as the first privately-owned federal TV network in Luciania, broadcasting on UHF channels 18 (Luciani) and 19 (Spanish) in Hebin, and later expanding to other states through different frequencies. The other privately-owned TV stations are regional and UHF-only, as the VHF channel space was already completely occupied by publicly-owned channels. That same day, Tele Felipe was renamed to Luciania Televisión (abbreviated as LTV) to make it sound less ambiguous, as well as to easily identify itself as a state-owned channel. In 1984, UDL TV became the first Lucianian TV channel to air with stereo sound.
On March 10, 1986, Luciania Telecom became the first cable provider to operate in Luciania. By 1994, it had twenty million subscribers, and eventually reachd 60% of the Lucianian population in 1998, then 75% in 2000, and 90% in 2025.
On April 5, 2010, digital TV broadcasts started with the Japanese-Brazilian ISDB-T International standard. 1seg transmissions also started, for reception on low-end mobile phones.
On August 7, 2022, LTV was rebranded to NacionalTV, as part of a government effort of rebranding the public media, and unifying them under the Nacional name.
On April 10, 2023, the government scheduled the analog TV shutdown for September 5, 2023, which was meant to take effect nationwide excluding Zacken, which had it delayed to 2025 as a result of the poverty coming from when the state was still a city from the then-dictatorial Funtenia.
In August 2023, to help develop the transition without leaving various Lucianians without watching TV, the original analog shutdown date now only applied to Nicoland, with other states delaying with dates depending on their population, size and development (and for VHF channels, only doing it after the last state in the respective time zone area switches to digital). It completed in Hebin on August 10, 2024 (excluding NacionalTV, which delayed it to August 17, 2024 due to the 2024 Summer Olympics. The 2025 date for Zacken will only apply to PAL-A broadcasts, with the NTSC date now being 2027. Cable and satellite won't be affected until a proper date gets announced.
As part of the digital television transition, the government ran a CGI ad campaign featuring a white stick figure, who was confused as to what happened to his TV, only to hear that analog television is shutting down, and later hearing the benefits of digital television, and the ways to continue watching terrestrial televisions on TV sets without digital tuners.
Home media[]
Prior to the introduction of color television, the Sanyo V-Cord was sold in Luciania. It became somewhat popular, and as most of the models were also intended for the Gabesian and Nicolandic markets (even having a 120V-220V toggle, the former intended for Gabesia, and the latter for other Dischian nations), it supported NTSC color recordings, and Lucianians therefore recorded a few color programs on said format.
On January 4, 1979, as part of the color television transition, Sony's Lucianian distributor started exporting Betamax videotapes and recorders. They became even more succesful due to their small size and the ability to record longer.
A year later, JVC's Lucianian division started distributing VHS tapes and VCRs, which quickly surpassed sales of Betamax thanks to its longer tape length, as well as the equipment being less heavy and therefore cheaper to produce. Aditionally, VHS was designed as an open format, leading to the lower costs, whereas Betamax is designed by Sony as a proprietary format, with higher costs coming from licensing fees. In 1984, VHS Hi-Fi was quickly adopted by most major distributors, as so did VHS HQ in 1985 (although both formats didn't become popular in Luciania until S-VHS became popular) and eventually, in 1987, S-VHS was widely adopted, which by 1995, would hit three million Lucianian households, later expanding to 30 million by the next decade, making it even more popular than everywhere else (including the format's native Japan). Local company Technogys was also known for selling various VCRs throughout the Dischian continent, including pan-Dischian VCRs which were mainly popular with international families and TV DXers, and eventually normal consumers as well since S-VHS's popularity, as well as before that, Luciania's introduction of cable television in 1986 (with the Hebin cable service additionally offering Yanolandic and French channels, which air on SECAM-F, and on incompatible sets are converted to NTSC through an option, which is usually set by the installer).
In 1997, the first DVD players and discs were sold in Luciania, though they wouldn't become popular until the mid-2000s. This was followed by the first Lucianian DVD recorders in 2005, and the first Lucianian DVRs were sold seven years earlier, in 1998, after Luciania Telecom introduced its digital cable service, although both devices didn't popularize until by the very late 2000s. In 2008, for the introduction of HD channels in Luciania Telecom, the first HD DVRs were sold, and reached its peak in 2010, with the introduction of digital terrestrial television in Luciania.
Video games[]

In January 1979, the Atari VCS launched in Luciania, to coincide with the country's introduction of color television.
In 1986, Nintendo of Luciania was founded and unusually for an official division, made local factores and produced Lucianian Nintendo Entertainment System, units (based on patents and information provided by Nintendo of America), which helped reduce its price in Luciania and became very succesful. Since then, the company would go onto release various official Nintendo products ever since, and Nintendo became a very big name in Luciania.
Internet[]

In 1988, the .ln ccTLD was registered. The first internet domain name registered in Luciania was red.ln, on October 15, 1988. It currently redirects to a Lucianian government website about the internet and its infrastructure.
The first Lucianian internet service provider is Entel Luciania, which introduced its internet service in 1995, the same year it was introduced by the original Chilean company. In 1996, for its tenth anniversary, Luciania Telecom started operating its fiber internet service.
The first TV channel to have a website, UDL TV, launched the udltv.ln domain on December 21, 1996, just in time for its seasonal-themed rebrand.
By 1997, 40% of the Lucianian population has internet access. This later expanded to 80% in 2005, and in 2025 sits at 97%.
