Pithalia, officially known as the Pithalian Republic (Portuguese: República Pithaliana) is a country in Southeast Asia, sharing maritime borders with Indonesia, Philippines, and Papua New Guinea.
Pithalia was colonized by Portugal in the 16th century and was known as Portuguese Pithalia until 13 August 1834, when the Pithalian Democratic Movement for an Independent and Democratic Pithalia declared the territory's independence. 17 days later, it was invaded and occupied by the Brazilian Army. After the dissolution of the Empire of Brazil, Pithalia declared independence and was recognized by the new republican government of Brazil.
Pithalia has vast mineral and petroleum reserves, and its economy is among the fastest-growing in the world. It is a developing country and ranks 70th in the Human Development Index. It is a founding member of the United Nations, World Trade Organization, Association of Southeast Asian Nations and other international organizations.
