Pop Island[2] is an American animated comedy-drama fantasy web series created by Jenna Glenwood and produced by Junk Box. The series is about the an in-universe reality television series of the same name where people with superpowers compete against each other in survival games.

The series was first released on Junk Box's website on December 7, 2012, and became a viral video. The first season was released from December 7, 2012 to February 13, 2013.

As of May 2020, 8 seasons and a total of 80 episodes have been uploaded.

Synopsis

Setting

Pop Island takes place in the fictional country of Pop Island.

Plot

On Pop Island, a television game show of the same name is filmed. On the game show, people with elements compete against each other in survival games.

The game show also has commentary from various contestants.

Conception

Jenna Glenwood conceptualized the series when she wanted to make a "fake game show that looks like a kiddie cartoon". She drew a few characters—Breezy, Pyro, and Aqua—and posted them on Drawspot. She also typed a few episode plots in Microsoft Word.

In January 2012, Glenwood gathered a voice cast and a production team, and announced on JunkBox.com that the company had an animated series in development.

Pop Island has received positive reviews. It has a score of 7.5/10 on IMDb.
