History[]
Pre-Debut and formation[]
In 2014, Jukebox started a project to debut musical / performing groups in a near future, influenced by late 90s boybands in the U.S. and the industry of K-Pop. In 2015, Scott Hyalverson, which was already known in the entertainment industry by being a very famous model and young talent, signed with the company as the first trainee of the, then known as, 'Jukebox Next Revelation' group project.
In early 2014, Jukebox auditioned born talents with attributes in dance and vocal performing, later auditioning talents with rapping performing, of which were selected only 20 talents to become trainees of the company. The group had a provisional name 'The Weird Ones' because executives of the company found uncommon the formula of adapting boy groups to Ostlandic market. Group's first member line consisted of 10 members: Rikard, Won Keeul, Scott, Ian, Klaus, Benjamin, Iske, Simon, Jake, and Frederik with a fantasy concept of alternate worlds and mythology.
Later, the first known name was GHOST KIDS, as Ian accidentally revealed on Snapchat.
In July 2015, Ghost Kids project was reported as canceled, by insiders, causing disappointment in fans. Consequently, Iske, Simon, Won Keeul, Klaus, Frederik and Rikard rescinded their contracts with Jukebox. Scott and Ivan also had intentions of doing the same thing, but the company personally dealt with them to stay. Benjamin asked about the possibility of a debut as a soloist, without receiving an answer.
After weeks of talks, Jukebox announced they resumed the project of a boy group, with Scott as the leader, Ian, Jake, and Bejamin, but there were no other trainees left, so the company contacted who were not originally selected during the early selection but who were selected for the label for another projects. Derek, Harold and Sebastián were the trainees selected. They also contacted Iske to be group's eighth member, and the main rapper, but he was already busy with his modelling career.
2016 - Debut and first release 'INCEPTION'[]
On April 20, 2016, Jukebox revealed the first trailer of a webserie of vlogs called Before We R(Ones), documenting group's training, creative and recording proccess of their debut. On Episode 2, Scott showed a little bit of the creative proccess behind the songs, talking about how he wanted the album to sound 'inspirational' but also 'full of fortress and beats'. He showed a sneak peak of a unreleased song called 'Brakeless', written by Ian and Derek, that did not made it to the final tracklist.
2019 - Breakthrough, international success and solo activities[]
On January 12, the group announced a new single, 'Rooms', for their new era, and their comeback to the stage, after their 3-months break.
Derek revealed during an Instagram live stream that 'the past year left them stressed' and that it 'got reflected on the new record', causing concern in fans. Benjamin, on the same stream, said: 'Last year was the most beautiful moment in my life, seeing all of you enjoy and live and dance with us, but we need a slow down'.
'Rooms' was immediately a huge success in Ostland, breaking the record for the most viewed video by an Ostlandic act in a single day, with 6.4 million views. The video debuted with 19 million worldwide views during the premiere day.
The song started to be played on clubs in the United States, and slowly gained more relevance outside the group's fandom.
On April 8, 2019, the group announced their second studio album, Wastedland, and their first world tour, second overall, The Clear Sky World Tour, starting with Barcelona, on July 19. The album was finally released on June 12 among with the single Drowned Hill.
The album features a song called 'The Magician', which immediately received special attention of fans due to its deep lyrics. The song was solely wrote by group member Sebastian Torres, and is described as a soft rock piece with influences of blues. The success of the song, without any major promotion, was noticed by Jukebox executives, which offered Torres to work on more soloist music. Sebastian was the first member to ever perform a solo act during group concerts.
