Rufus Entertainments is an Argentine video game developer headquartered in La Plata and founded in 1996 and has developed almost exclusively for personal computers and smartphones ever since.

It was also a contract developer for Magic World and its then-current subsidiaries/consortiums to produce multimedia CD-ROMs as tie-ins to the intellectual properties owned by the studio. They have also (to cut costs during the economic depression of the late 1990's and early 2000's) developed concepts and outsourced game production to studios in other countries whilst translating work sent back to them into Spanish.

Their name comes from the rufous hornero, Argentina's national animal known for building covered nests. In addition to being a display of national pride, this was chosen in reference to the studio being originally based out of an apartment building in which other tenants would not be aware that game developers for a budding industry were in their midst.

Controversy[]

Many Argentines have disparaged the developer for considering itself a contributor to the local game industry whilst in fact outsourcing many titles to foreign developers, even claiming they are technically not among the first commercially sold video games made in the country at all.
