Satsuki Film Company is a British-American-Japanese production company founded in 2013. They produce anime-styled traditionally-animated movies and television shows, some of which were based on pre-existing properties. They were also known for distributing obscure anime in various territories.

History

In March 2018, they became a subsidary of 1happycats Productions, as a result of a relationship they developed during production of their first two co-produced TV shows.

In December 2020, they became a subsidary of HBO, as part of a deal to stream their properties on HBO Max.

Trivia

  • The company is named after the My Neighbor Totoro character Satsuki Kusakabe, which makes sense considering they would produce a show with the characters (the aforementioned Satsuki included) from that film titled The Kusakabes. The color scheme in the logo corresponds to the colors of the clothes Satsuki herself wears.
  • In addition to producing films and TV shows, they also did English dubs of various anime, such as Dr. Slump and Ocean Waves.
