Shinchin Taisha: The Copy Room – Distinctive by Design (Japanese: 新陳代謝 the Copy Room: Distinctive by Design, Hepburn: Shinchin taisha za Kopī Rūmu: Disutinkutibu Bai Dezain) is a 1971 Japanese commercial LP release of various electronic/sci-fi music and the last two rock music by three then-amateur composers Hidetsugu Inoue, Mitsuo Nishimura and Kazuhiro Saito.

The album was produced by Toshiaki Yoshizaki and included sounds created by said three composers. While many of the tracks are basic sound effects, others are like ambient music, designed to create soundscapes rather than fulfilling a specific music or sound effects requirement.

The album was released in the United States on CD on July 3, 1991 in simulated stereo by Columbia Records as Metastasis in the Copy Room: Distinctive by Design.
