Shop-Rite Barokia is a retailers' cooperative (co-op) of supermarkets in Barokia. It consists of over 253 (and counting) stores, all under its corporate and distribution arm ShopRite Barokia Partners, L.P. (a joint-venture of Wakefern Food Corporation, Coca-Cola Bottling Barokia, and Azam Supermarket Sales, S.A.) Several members of the limited parternship own and operate single ShopRite stores, while most own multiple locations. The average ShopRite Barokia Partners member operates 12 stores.

History[]

Shop-Rite entered the Barokian market in 1978 after Wakefern Food Corporation bought out the bankrupt Barokian grocery store chain Ghazzi. At first, the Shop-Rite stores in Barokia gained media attention in the United States for having a misplaced status, as the first location in Gezmad (which was rebuilt in the 80's after the North Korea nuking accident) was 4,287 kilometers away from the nearest other Shop-Rite, as all the other Shop-Rite locations were in the Northeastern United States.

At first, products sold were either bought locally by Wakefern affiliates in neighboring Brazil or imported from the United States, but later Wakefern started ShopRite Barokia Partners, L.P. with the Azam Group conglomerate and Coca-Cola Bottling Barokia to operate the stores, and built three distribution centers in A'dbel, Bahezki, and Ushabahtawad.

The 100th store opened in Fazeel in 1995.
