Anderson}} and his wife {{W|Rebecca Moesta}}. Developed by {{W|Bob Richardson (animator)|Bob Richardson}}, {{W|Eric Radomski}}, and {{W|Mitch Brian}}, and produced by {{W|Lucasfilm|Lucasfilm Ltd.}} and [[Lucasfilm Feature Animation|Lucasfilm Television Animation]], in association with {{W|Nelvana|Nelvana International}} (only in Canada), the series originally aired on the {{W|Fox Kids|Fox Kids Network}} from June 1, 1996 to December 1, 2000, for a total of five seasons comprising 85 episodes. It focuses on the Jedi training of {{W|Jacen Solo|Jacen}} and Jaina Solo, the twin children of {{W|Han Solo}} and {{W|Princess Leia|Leia Organa Solo}}. The series begins 23 years ABY (After the {{W|Star Wars (film)|Battle of Yavin}}), when the twins are fourteen years old. 

''Star Wars: Young Jedi Knights'' was the third series in the {{W|Star Wars in other media|''Star Wars'' expanded universe}} after ''[[Star Wars: Dark Empire|Dark Empire]]'' and ''[[Star Wars: X-Wing (TV series)|X-Wing]]'', and it uses the same animation style as ''{{W|Batman: The Animated Series}}'', with {{W|Genndy Tartakovsky}} returned as an character animation designer. Like its predecessors, it was a ratings success and received widespread universal acclaim from audiences and critics alike for its characters, cultural references, art direction, soundtrack, humor, and themes. These include concepts rarely touched on in youth entertainment, including war, genocide, imperialism, totalitarianism, indoctrination and free choice. It won five {{W|Annie Awards}}, four {{W|Emmy Awards}}, a {{W|Genesis Awards|Genesis Award}}, a {{W|Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program|Outstanding Animated Program}}, and a {{W|Peabody Award}}.
