Stupendoriffic is a children's programming block distributed by Tegna Inc. which debuted in August 2018. The block, consisting of long-form animated series as well as some short-form content, is carried on the U.S. terrestrial network Quest as well as on Tegna owned/operated stations in several markets and in the open syndication market. Some of it's programming is also available on Tegna's KidsNet multicast network duopoly.

History

Stupendoriffic debuted on August 5, 2018 across most Tegna stations, competing with now-defunct KidsClick. Tegna signed deals with HG Distribution, Seagrounds Financial Group, 9 Story Media Group, Nelvana, Disney–ABC Domestic Television, Sony Pictures Television and Gotaku to provide programming for the block, with Sony Pictures Television also providing advertising sale services. The programming block's distribution and original content production is based out of the WFAA Communications Center Studios in Dallas, Texas - home to Tegna's duopoly of ABC affiliate WFAA and Estrella TV affiliate KMPX.

Jonathan Poynter, a San Angelo, Texas native and a former writer and publicist at HiT Entertainment, was hired as the block's executive producer. Jonathan stated in a press release that "we think Litton is trying to have a sort of monopoly on the over-the-air kids' TV market, and Sinclair's KidsClick is the only kids programming block that can be a supplement to existing E/I programming. I'm glad, with my experience in the children's media industry, that I was chosen as executive producer for the Stupendoriffic block."

In May 2019, Sony Pictures Television and Tegna announced they had signed a new deal to syndicate Stupendoriffic to non-Tegna or non-Quest-affiliated stations.

  • "BeSAFE Kid Tips" - a spinoff of the BeSAFE segments on fellow Tegna property the True Crime Network, hosted by Sgt. Alex Poggiali of the Fort Worth Police Department (who, in his prior career as a child actor, had voiced Huo Guang in season 3 of Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat and it's miniseries spin-off Kana the Japanese Pekingese Pup), providing safety tips to children.
  • "Did Ya Know?..." - a segment revolving around educational fun facts.
  • "Plan Your Fun" - a segment promoting various fun places to explore. This segment is mainly tailored to the specific region of the local station airing the block. The syndicated version of the block uses a mixture of local Plan Your Fun segments and "national" ones.
