MundoCBC is a Canadian Spanish language specialty channel owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). MundoCBC broadcasts a variety of Spanish-language programming, including news, dramas, talk shows, sports, and more. The network is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec at Maison Radio-Canada alongside the CBC's French language pay TV services Ici ARTV, Ici Explora and Ici RDI.

History[]

After the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission's (CRTC) call for applications regarding services who wish to be regulated to be distributed on the basic package of all television service providers in Canada, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation announced an application in January 2013. Within this application, CBC proposed a new Spanish language service, MundoCBC, which would operate under a Category B licence and would "offer programming focused primarily on reflecting the culture of the Spanish-speaking community in Canada".

The application was approved on August 8, 2013. The channel launched on March 15, 2014, airing the channel's launch ceremony held at Montreal's Place des Nations. Jacek Fiedorowicz and his associates composed the network's original music, including the station IDs, the music for all of the network's special broadcasts, plus the music for all the news, sports and weather programs. Jacek worked with Spanish-speaking musicians and singers flown in from Miami and Mexico City.

Programming[]

Programmes mostly consist of shows from the CBC and Radio-Canada dubbed into Spanish, along with Spanish-dubbed versions of shows from other Canadian networks. MundoCBC also airs telenovelas and comedy programs from various Latin American & Spanish broadcasters.
