Tartan Entertainment is a company. It owns and handles the libraries of ThinkFilm, Pinewood Group, Curzon Artificial Eye both in the US and much more.

History[]

The company was founded in early 2006 when Magnolia Pictures and IFC Films merged to create Magnolia IFC Entertainment, it also owned EsaïeGregoryPrickett Pictures, Truly Indie, HDNet and HDNet Movies and later acquired Hen's Tooth Video and the library (and after that, all the assets) of Spartan Home Entertainment . In 2007, it purchased Exclusive Media Group which consisted of Newmarket Films and was renamed Newmarket Entertainment. Then in 2009, it purchased Palisades Media Group which included Palisades Tartan and was renamed to current name and High Fliers Distribution and acquired all the assets of Braveworld, Virgin Vision, VIPCO, World of Video 2000, Intervision, GO Video, Astra Video, Hokushin, Monte Video, Mountain Video, Apple Video, Iver Film Services, JVI, Palace Video and New World Video's international assets, aswell as Brentwood which included Simitar  Entertainment, this led it to being to strongest independent entertainment company in the US.

In 2010, it was purchased by Six, then the company acquired all the assets of defunct foreign video company Communications and Entertainment Limited and independent film company ThinkFilm. In 2014, it gained the US rights to handle the library of Pinewood Group and gained the library of Indomina Releasing and made deals with All3Media and FremantleMedia.

In 2016, it purchased all assets of Alchemy (including home media) after it it went bankrupt, boosting the library of Tartan and put many libraries under the Alchemy library and revived Alchemy as its television and video game division.

It also owns the assets of Qualia Libraries Co (includes Gaylord/Pandora Films and Rysher Entertainment). Also owns the assets of Fries Entertainment (library owned by MGM via PolyGram).
