General information

At this time in Ivanovie are 31 free-to-air channels (not counting regional stations).

All pay-TV providers in Ivanovie are required to include all terrestrial television channels without encryption and also pay-TV and international channels from Polenesia.

In Ivanovie every station has a watermark. Ivanovian Television introduced the first watermark in 1st March 1977 on IT1 and IT2. Right now on-screen bugs are usually placed in the top-right or top-left corner of the screen.

All of the channels are required to put the special ident before each advertising (Реклама), public service announcement (Социальная реклама), political advertising (Политическая реклама).

History

Analog closedown warning broadcast

First experimental programs in Ivanovie were introduced in 1930 in analogue. The transmission was suspended for a while in 1939 because of the World War II. In 1946 started regular television.

Color television started in 1951.

Before 1975 year, Ivanovian television was monopolized, but after the coup d'état government solved the solution launch the private channel People's Television.

In 1995/2002 introduced digital terrestrial television with 14 TV-channels. Analog terrestrial television was completely shut down from 30 September 2012 to 31 August 2013. It uses the DVB-T standard. In 2014 launched DVB-T2 standard.

Teletext

Teletext in Ivanovie was founded on May 22, 1975, for Ivanovian Broadcasting as Ivanovian Teletext (now IVGazeta), then N-Text (from September 14, 1987), OTC Teletext (from May 12, 1999), and Indigo Text (from September 9, 2009).

Television content rating system

Ivanovian Rating Board manages the television rating system. Symbols look different on different channels, and they usually appear in the upper right (depending on the broadcaster) corner for the whole programme. If the content is rated as "For 15 years and above", "For 18 years and above", "Prohibited for children and certain adult audiences", then a special warning must be played before the program begins.
