The 'Lucky Star' (Japanese: らき☆すた, Hepburn: 'Raki Suta') series makes up one of the six core franchises of the popular series created by Hiroshi Takajima and Kagami Yoshimizu for Drillimation Studios. The anime spans six seasons and has been dubbed into English by Walt Disney Pictures. The franchise follows the story of a beautiful blue-haired girl named Konata Izumi who one day finds out her late mother was reincarnated as a queen and ascends the role of the princess of the Lucky Star Kingdom and falling in love with Susumu Hori with the main objective of overcoming dangerous obstacles and to defeat Dr. Manhole who killed her mother when she was five months old. The franchise made its debut in Japan in 1981 and in North America in 1987 starting with the first game. British author J. K. Rowling also wrote novel versions of the anime, which were released between 1999 and 2005.

Drillimation Studios produced six seasons of Lucky Star, all of which have 50 main episodes with two complementary episodes based on the spin-off series The Miyakawa Family's Hunger each, making a total of 312 episodes.
