(We fade to a leaf-covered path on a cold winter's afternoon. As we slowly pan along, the sound of footsteps and leaves cracking becomes prominent. As we see a pair of dark red hooves come into the frame, we smash cut to the darkened bedroom of Fisher Biskit. From a distance, we see his twin daughters, Brittany and Whittany, standing next to him on his deathbed.)

Fisher Biskit: (weak) My daughters...

(We cut to the LPS day camp, where we see Russell Ferguson, Sunil Nevla and Vinnie Terrio huddled up at the corner, sleep-deprived and fearing for their lives. What follows is a shot of the interior of the hydrant hangout, focusing on a guilt-ridden Pepper Clark, laying on her back, staring blankly at the camera as it slowly rotates.)

Fisher: (v.o.) Since the first day Littlest Pet Street opened to the public...

(We see brief flashes of the fantasy sequence from A Death in the Pet Shop, particularly shots of Penny Ling suffocating on a near-lethal mixture of Pepper's fumes, her subsequent falling to the floor in pain as she begins to suffer a heart attack, and Pepper cradling her lifeless body as she bursts into tears. Accompanying this rapidly-paced sequence is a loud, shrill screech, coupled with Pepper crying over the death of Penny Ling.)

Pepper Clark: (echoes in the background) No! Penny Ling!

(We cut back to the hydrant, where a wide-eyed Pepper turns her head to face the other side. Following immediately afterwards is a shot of Sugar Sprinkles comforting a sleeping Buttercream Sundae.)

Fisher: (v.o.) ...I knew my time in the business would be coming to an end.

(We cut to a hand (presumably that of Roger's) pushing a door open, revealing Blythe Baxter in a disheveled state, hooked up to life support machinery. As we switch to a close-up shot of Blythe slumped over in her bed, we see her flicker her reddened eyes open, letting out a feeble groan.)

Fisher: (v.o.) I would like to offer my sincerest apologies to you both... for not being there for you.

(We cut to a back view of a masked assailant entering Downtown City Park. As we pan down, we see him brandishing a freshly-sharpened machete in his arms. We then cut to Shivers storing an armful of acorns in his tree in preparation for winter before he turns to face his surroundings, his eyes swimming with dread.)

Fisher: (v.o.) And I intend to make it up to you the only way I can.

(We cut back to Fisher's bedroom: a close-up shot of Fisher on his deathbed, with the twins standing at the left, details his sickly demeanour. His skin is a ghostly pale colour, his hair is almost completely gone, and he has lost a considerable amount of weight — hence his somewhat skeletal appearance.)

Fisher: I'm handing the reins of Largest Ever Pet Shop over to you and your mother.

(We cut to a shot of the twins reacting to their inheritance with mild astonishment, followed by a visibly concerned Eliza Biskit standing in the hallway, holding Poppy Pawsley in her arms, listening on with morbid curiosity.)

(We fade to a long shot of a dark, murky river, accompanied by the deep ambience of an underwater landscape. As we pause in the middle, we see a silhouette of a familiar character swimming towards up, intercut with brief glimpses of an old vintage cabin sitting in what appears to be a cavern, snow falling on the soil of the national forest, and a subjective camera travelling through the mist, revealing the shadow of an Equestrian Pegasus.)

Distorted Voice: Life is a fickle mistress. You never know what you'll get and when you'll get it. And when you do...

AND THE DISCOVERY FAMILY ANIMATED SERIES
LITTLEST PET SHOP

(The scene changes to a shot of Spitfire emerging from a cave as she prepares to greet an apparent group of visitors. The camera pans along to reveal Shadow Blazer, Spitfire's wife, having lead Blythe's friends — Youngmee Song, Sue Patterson and Jasper Jones — to a safe haven of sorts.)

Distorted Voice: ...it hits you hard.

(We cut to a black screen, showing the formation of the film's title as it merges through the blackness, one word at a time.)

Zoe Trent: (v.o.) Pepper, I promise we'll help you get through this.

Minka Mark: (v.o.) We can grieve together.

(We cut to the interior of the aforementioned cabin. In an over-the-shoulder shot, we see a hand reaching out for a videotape stacked atop a pile of tapes, sitting next to which is a combo television unit. As the soft sound of creaking floorboards grows prominent, we cut to another black screen displaying the film's release date.)

(Fade to black.)

(We open at the LPS day camp: a close-up shot of the hydrant hangout's interior depicts Pepper Clark, laying on her back and staring blankly upwards as Minka Mark pokes her head inside.)

Minka Mark: (calls out to Zoe Trent in a hushed tone) Hey, Zoe! She's in here!

THIS NOVEMBER

(We cut to a shot of the twin daughters of Fisher Biskit, Brittany and Whittany, holding their pet chinchillas, Cashmere and Velvet, in their respective arms. They are following the masked assailant from the previous trailer as they walk towards the front door of Blythe Baxter's apartment.)

WITNESS

(We cut to a below-surface shot of a dark, murky landscape. Taking the plunge is one of Blythe's friends, Youngmee Song, equipped with diving gear — consisting principally of a one-piece swimsuit, a lensless swimming mask and a pair of swimfins. She has her fingers pressed against the nose bridge of her mask as a large cloud of foam explodes around her, bubbles drizzling past her face.)

THE END

(We cut back to the LPS day camp: a seemingly apologetic Pepper slowly advances towards a terrified Russell Ferguson, who immediately curls up into a ball.)

OF A
GENERATION

(We cut to the outskirts of the national forest. Emerging through the mist is a cloaked reddish-brown mare, who is known in the original story as Wilted Rose, Shadow Blazer's sister.)

Wilted Rose: (notices something in the distance) They're coming.

(We open on a monochrome recap of A Death in the Pet Shop, fading in and out of each scene. It plays out in the following order: Penny Ling suffocating on a near-lethal mixture of Pepper Clark's fumes, and her subsequent falling to the floor in agony; Pepper cradling her lifeless body and bursting into tears; Blythe Baxter and a select number of pets at the vet's office, surrounding the dying panda as she takes her last breath; Russell Ferguson approaching her resting place at Downtown City Park, laying a bunch of flowers on the soil; and finally, Pepper laying on her front, staring blankly at Penny Ling's gravestone.)

Penny Ling: (echoes in the background) I love you all. Always have, always will.

Pepper Clark: (v.o.) Penny Ling and I really had it going. And just as we were about to hit it off... (beat) I blew it.

(We fade to the LPS day camp: inside the hydrant hangout, Pepper is laying on her back, staring blankly upwards in a guild-ridden mood.)

Pepper: (v.o.) These past six months haven't been very kind to me.

(We cut to a shot of Russell, along with Sunil Nevla and Vinnie Terrio, huddled up at the corner. All of them are shivering and fearing for their lives, and they look as though they haven't slept in days.)

Pepper: (v.o.) They boys haven't approached me since the funeral. They won't even look at me, let alone talk to me. Things haven’t been the same since Penny Ling died.

(We cut back to the interior of the hydrant hangout: Sugar Sprinkles is comforting a sleeping Buttercream Sundae on the other side, while Pepper stares at them solemnly. In the background, Minka Mark pokes her head inside and calls out to Zoe Trent.)

Pepper: (v.o.) Maybe Littlest Pet Shop would be better off if I died too.

(We fade to an over-the-shoulder shot of a masked assailant entering Downtown City Park, approaching what appears to be the tree home of Shivers. As the camera pans down, we see him brandishing a freshly-sharpened machete in his arms. We cut to a close-up shot of Shivers, who appears to be preparing for winter hibernation as he is seen storing an armful of acorns into his tree.)

Zoe Trent: (v.o.) There's been a murder at Downtown City Park.

(As Shivers turns to spot the assailant as he advances towards the timid squirrel, the scene changes to Pepper inside the hydrant hangout at the LPS day camp, facing Zoe and Minka — both of whom appear rather morbid.)

Pepper: A murder?

(We cut to a shot of Shivers taking a few steps back and cowering against his tree as the assailant moves closer towards him, presumably to strike the killing blow. The scene then changes back to the Song residence, where Youngmee leaps from her bed, with Nutmeg in her arms, upon hearing a loud shriek from downstairs.)

Minka: (v.o.) They're saying it was a masked assassin who slaughtered one of the animals.

(We cut back to the hydrant hangout: as Pepper bares a look of dread, a dark red Equestrian Pegasus, known as Shadow Blazer, sticks her head into the hydrant, causing Pepper to yelp in surprise.)

Shadow Blazer: Hey, girls.

(We cut back to the national forest, where Shadow Blazer is shown to walk along a leaf-covered path, leading Youngmee, Sue Patterson and Jasper Jones to a safe haven of sorts.)

Shadow Blazer: (v.o.) I'm taking Youngmee and her friends with me to the forest.

(We cut to a shot of Spitfire, Shadow Blazer's wife, walking out of a dark cave as she prepares to greet her visitors. This is followed by a zoom-in shot of the shadowy mare from earlier.)

Shadow Blazer: (v.o.) I have a feeling something big is about to go down.

(The mare emerges from the mist and is revealed to be a cloaked reddish-brown mare as she pulls down her hood. She is known in the original story as Wilted Rose, Shadow Blazer's sister.)

Wilted Rose: (notices the group in the distance) They're coming.

THIS NOVEMBER

(We cut to a dimly lit shot inside what appears to be a cavern. A dinghy carrying five passengers — Youngmee, Sue, Jasper, Shadow Blazer and Spitfire — sails across a wide river. The camera quickly pulls up to reveal what they are sailing towards: an old vintage cabin sitting atop a gritty, sand-covered surface. A closer shot at the side of the cabin shows Wilted Rose bringing her head and hooves into view, overseeing the group's arrival.)

Spitfire: (v.o.) Make yourselves at home, sailors.

WITNESS

(We cut to a shot of Brittany and Whittany holding their pet chinchillas, Cashmere and Velvet, in their respective arms as they follow the aforementioned masked assailant through a dark hallway. As the camera pulls out, they are shown to be walking towards the front door of Blythe's apartment, most likely with ill intent. We then cut to the lobby at Tres Blasé, where the elevator at the side of the room can be heard going up. Cairo and Scout Kerry are shown on the desk, watching the elevator doors open with vague intrigue.)

THE END

(We cut to a below-surface shot of a dark, murky landscape. Taking the plunge is Youngmee, equipped with an essential amount of diving gear — consisting principally of a one-piece swimsuit, a lensless swimming mask and a pair of swimfins. She has her index and middle fingers pressed against the nose bridge of her mask as a cloud of foam explodes around her, bubbles drizzling past her face. We then cut to another shot, taking place inside the cabin, where Shadow Blazer takes a videotape into her hooves. She is shown standing in front of a pile of tapes sitting on a table, next to which is a combo television unit, as she closely inspects the tape curiously.)

OF A
GENERATION

(We cut back to the LPS day camp, where a seemingly apologetic Pepper is shown walking towards Russell, who immediately curls up into a ball and huddles against Sunil and Vinnie for comfort and protection. Following afterwards is a shot of the group at the cavern, being led by Wilted Rose, walking out of the cabin as they begin to notice something in the distance.)

TEN YEARS
IN THE MAKING

(We cut to a tracking shot of Sugar Sprinkles racing across the forest as she carries Pepper in her arms, who is apparently being chased by a vengeful Russell. We end on a mid-air shot of the cavern that lasts no more than a few seconds; Shadow Blazer projects a beam of red and orange flames from her hooves, aiming for Wilted Rose, the latter of whom retaliates by throwing a stream of magical energy towards her sister. Just before both of their powers clash, the screen cuts to black.)

Distorted Voice: The Biskit family legacy shall live on.

(We see the formation of the film's title as each word merges through the blackness and displays an array of pink and purple variations. It then stays dormant for a few seconds before fading to black.)

(We fade back to the cavern: Shadow Blazer is kneeling on the surface in front of the cavern, as though she is mourning the loss of a friend. As we cut to a close-up shot of her somber demeanour, the soft sound of sand crunching beneath one's footsteps becomes prominent and grows increasingly louder as Shadow Blazer begins to turn around. As her eyes widen at the sight of the figure approaching the downtrodden mare, accompanied by faint throat noises, the scene smash cuts to the film's release date.)

(We open on a monochrome tracking shot of Equestria as we pan down to the vicinity of Ponyville, borrowed from My Little Pony: The Movie.)

Shadow Blazer: (v.o.) In Equestria, we always believed in the power of friendship.

(We fade to black, then to a shot of a pair of hooves — one dark red and the other yellow, visiting a gravestone marked "HERE LIES LAURA ANDERSON 1999 — 2021", next to another marked "HERE LIES DYLAN ANDERSON 1961 — 2021". We then cut to a low-angle shot of the pair, Shadow Blazer and Spitfire, apparently mourning the former's old friend. The scene changes to a long shot of Seaquestria, where a large group of seaponies are holding a memorial service for one of their own — Princess Skystar. As we cut to a close up of the throne, her mother Queen Novo is sitting with her twin sisters, Haven Bay and Salina Blue, as they join hands in mourning.)

Shadow Blazer: (v.o.) But here, I've lost friends left, right and center.

(As we fade out, we see Shadow Blazer in a dimly lit cavern, kneeling on a gritty, sand-covered surface in front of an old vintage cavern. The camera slowly pulls out as her monologue continues.)

Shadow Blazer: Now I don't know what to do anymore.

(As we cut to a close-up shot of her solemn demeanour, we begin to hear the soft sound of sand cracking beneath one's footsteps, forcing Shadow Blazer to open her eyes as we see a mysterious figure, shrouded in darkness, slowly approaching her. We cut to the downtrodden mare at another angle, her eyes widening with shock as she turns her head to see the figure approaching her, accompanied by faint throat noises.)

("An Ending (Ascent)" by Brian Eno plays as we see plain white text in Times New Roman fade in on a black background, one word at a time.)

SIX MONTHS EARLIER

(We cut to a close-up of a portraiture, surrounded by a plethora of flowers and shells; centred in the frame is Princess Nova Skystar, in her hippogriff form, sleeping on the surface of her former home, Hippogriffia, with her mother, Queen Novo, by her side. Underneath the portraiture is a memorial plaque, reading:

PRINCESS NOVA SKYSTAR
WORTHY OF HER TITLE
BELOVED BY HER SUBJECTS
SURVIVED BY HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS

We cut to a wide shot of Queen Novo's throne room at the outskirts of Seaquestria, where a memorial for Princess Skystar is being held. We see a group of seaponies carrying an open casket of sorts to the front of the room; this is immediately followed by a panning shot showing the lifeless body of Princess Skystar herself, in seapony form — eyes closed, arms held to chest — donning a necklace consisting of small pearls and shells, resting on a bed of seaweed and coral neatly laid out inside the casket. We cut to the next two shots, each showing a large crowd of seaponies and various undersea creatures, standing on the opposite side of one another, mourning the loss of their princess. Amongst the crowd on the left side is the Mane Six, all as seaponies — with Spike in pufferfish form, visibly in mourning for their late friend. On the face of it, Pinkie Pie — and Fluttershy, owing to her sensitivity — appear to have been hit the hardest by the unforeseen tragedy, leaving Rarity, Applejack and Rainbow Dash to comfort them. We switch to a medium shot of Queen Novo sitting atop the throne, with her twin daughters Haven Bay and Salina Blue, as they join hands in remembrance of the late Princess Skystar. As the casket is laid out in front of them, the three release hands as Queen Novo steps up to offer a few choice words of comfort and solace. The BGM winds down to a close as Queen Novo addresses her subjects.)

Queen Novo: My fellow seaponies, we are gathered here today to mourn the loss of... (breathes in) one of our own. (swims towards the casket) More specifically, my daughter. (cut to Haven and Salina sitting next to the throne, holding hands as they cry softly in each other's arms) Princess Skystar was a wonderful member of our community, beloved by her subjects and survived by her closest friends, (cut to a close-up shot of Princess Skystar's imaginary friends, Shelly and Sheldon, being held in her fins) however unorthodox you may perceive it to be. When the Storm King rampaged through our old home and forced us undersea, I swore to protect my daughter with my heart and soul. But alas, I was unable to protect her from the thoughtless ravages of the surface world. Today, our ranks have fallen by one, and our family devastated, but rest assured this tragic loss has made us stronger. (gently strokes Princess Skystar's face, resisting the urge to cry) Farewell, my daughter. You will be dearly missed by all.

Pinkie Pie: (holds a hoof up in the water) Wait! Can I step forward for a moment? I have something to say.

Queen Novo: (nods in acknowledgement of Pinkie Pie's wishes) Very well. You may set your affairs in order with my daughter.

Pinkie Pie: (nods back) Thanks.

(Without hesitation, Pinkie swims up to Princess Skystar's casket; Twilight Sparkle reaches a hoof out, as though she is trying to stop her from making a scene but cannot bring herself to hold her back. As Pinkie approaches the casket, she fights to keep herself from crying as she bids her final farewells to her late friend. After taking a moment to breathe in and out, she is able to pull herself together.)

Pinkie Pie: Princess, when we first met, I saw you as more than a friend. I saw you as a worthy companion. (sniffs) Here, let me hold Shelly and Sheldon for you. (takes Shelly and Sheldon into her arms) When things seemed down, (footage from My Little Pony: The Movie plays, particularly that of Pinkie and Skystar cavorting during the "One Small Thing" musical number, followed by a shot of the pair hugging and sharing a laugh at the Friendship Festival) I was there to lift your spirits and... you were there to lift mine. (cut back to Pinkie as a tear rolls down her left cheek) Don't you remember? When me and my friends got caught up in that whirlpool, you saved us. And you showed us around your home. You and me, (holds up an arm, where she is shown to be wearing a fair few of Skystar's shell bracelets) we even shared friendship bracelets. (gets choked up, forces an innocent smile while holding back her tears) You taught me... (cut back to MLP: The Movie footage showing Pinkie and Skystar (in her hippogriff form) on the beach at Mount Aris as Pinkie's voiceover paraphrases the latter's dialogue) "one small thing... can make a really big difference." (cut back to Pinkie) ♪ One small thing, it's a good place to start... (sniffles) One small thing and we don't seem so far apart... ♪

(Unable to compose herself for much longer, Pinkie breaks down and goes into a fit of quiet sobbing, wrapping her arms around Princess Skystar and pulling her body into her embrace. We close in on Pinkie hugging the lifeless body of her former companion as tears stream down her face; immediately afterwards, we cut to a tracking shot of Shelly and Sheldon sinking gently towards the seaweed coating inside the casket. As we switch back to the crowd, Fluttershy cannot bare to watch the events transpiring without bawling her eyes out, as illustrated by her looking away from the front of the room while covering herself with her tail fin. As Spike moves over to comfort Fluttershy — only to be greeted by the latter pulling him in for a tight hug, inadvertently triggering his defence mechanism — the rest of the Mane Six swims over to the casket as a grieving Pinkle cradles Princess Skystar's body. Pinkie releases Skystar from her embrace and rejoins her friends for a group hug, allowing herself to cry in Twilight's arms. We cut to a slow-motion following shot of Princess Skystar's body falling back into the casket, her hair flowing delicately in the water and settling at the side as her head tilts to the left. Queen Novo, who visibly cringes at the heartwrenching sight of Pinkie's sorrow for the death of Princess Skystar, swims over to the other side of the casket, taking a moment to mourn her fallen daughter. As they watch the group comfort Pinkie in her period of mourning from amidst the throne, Haven and Salina swim down and join Queen Novo in paying respects to their deceased family member. As the twins break down similarly to Pinkie, prompting their mother to console them, we cut to a medium close-up of Pinkie crying in Twilight's arms as the rest of the group hold her in a gentle embrace, illuminated by a bright light shining in the background which shortly takes up the scenery.)

ONE WEEK PRIOR TO
THE DEATH OF PENNY LING

(The white screen transitions to an aerial view of the sun shining in broad daylight; we pan down on what appears to be a yacht. As we cut to the platform at the front of the boat, we see Shadow Blazer laying on a lounge chair — legs crossed, hooves behind head, eyes closed — with Spitfire sitting soundly on the one next to her, reading The Great Book of Modern Warplanes by Bill Sweetman.)

Shadow Blazer: (takes a deep breath and sighs in relief) I gotta tell you, babe. After everything I've been through in this world, this is exactly what I needed.

Spitfire: (gently rubs Shadow Blazer's shoulders) Well, it was my idea, after all. They say a little fresh air soothes the nerves. How do you think Blythe and the pets are doing back on dry land?

Shadow Blazer: (waves Spitfire down) Let's not worry about that right now. Let's just enjoy this moment while it lasts and... (swirls a hoof in the air) soak up the hot spring sun.

Spitfire: (chuckles nervously) Right... sorry! (retreats to her lounge chair)

(We focus on Shadow Blazer relaxing for a few seconds until her smile suddenly fades. As her expression progressively changes to one of immense concern and dread, we hear echoes of the events transpiring in A Death in the Pet Shop; particularly the fantasy sequence — i.e. Pepper Clark's crazed laughter, Penny Ling suffocating on a near-lethal mixture of scented fumes and her subsequent guttural noises as she suffers a heart attack, Pepper crying over her eventual death, etc.)

Penny Ling: (echoes) Y-you're exhausted! And th-the fumes... (coughs and sputters frantically) It's too much! (the sound of test tubes falling and fumes exploding overlaps her audible suffering)

Pepper Clark: (echoes) What have I done?!

(As Shadow Blazer's face scrunches up into a grimace, she snaps out of her trance and sits up, panting heavily. Spitfire takes notice at this and moves over at her side, visibly concerned.)

Spitfire: Babe? What is it? Did you have another vision?

Shadow Blazer: Nah, babe... (her response confuses Spitfire by a margin) it's bigger than that. That thing I warned Pepper about... th-that goddamned Pet Fashion Expo... it's all coming together.

Spitfire: Wait... what do you mean-

Shadow Blazer: You may find this hard to believe, but I heard of this thing called the International Pet Fashion Expo, and I had a vision of what was going to happen during preparations, which I warned Pepper and Blythe about, and now... (in a shuddering tone of voice) it's transpiring.

Spitfire: (attempts to calm Shadow Blazer down) Babe, chill out. It's probably a faux pas or something.

Shadow Blazer: Every vision I've had has never been wrong, Spitfire. I think we might have to go back to the city.

Spitfire: You mean we'll have to cut our vacation short? Aw, babe! I was really enjoying the sunshine and salt air!

Shadow Blazer: I hate to even think about it, babe, but that might have to be the case. I can't risk putting the lives of my new friends in harm's way — not right now.

(Shadow Blazer walks over to the railing with Spitfire, where the couple simultaneously spread their wings out and take flight. We cut to an aerial view of Shadow Blazer and Spitfire flying back to Downtown City.)

Spitfire: So what is this new vision of yours telling you exactly?

Shadow Blazer: I'll spare you the grisly details this time, babe. All I know is, shit's about to get real.

(As we smash cut to black, we see the formation of the film's title as each word merges through the blackness and displays an array of pink and purple variations.)
