The Sweet Treets is a media franchise created by Jetanie-based cartoonist Taylor Ridley that began as a television series called Storytime with the Treets in 1974. The franchise is about a fictional species called the Treets, floating spherical creatures who were created to help young children with their social skills. The initial series was followed by two television series; The Sweet Treets (1984-97) and The New Adventures of The Sweet Treets (1995-97), a series of specials released under the title All New! The Sweet Treets (2000-2003), and multiple feature-length films.

The franchise initial focused on a girl called Liane Lockridge and her four Treets, Pinky, Shiny, Galaxy and the Golden Treet. Over time, the franchise's focus began to slowly shoft toward Liane's daughter Louise and her group of friends, as well as a species of bear-resembling creatures called the Rogons, who have close (albeit hectic) relations with the Treets.

The franchise is currently owned by Jetanie studio Colourbox, as well as Kuboian studios Kubokartoonz and Eastwood Animated Productions. The BBC own distribution rights for the franchise in the United Kingdom and some other countries.

Premise[]

The franchise is set in a fictional suburb area called Eastwood Park (not established until The New Adventures). Long ago, a group of scientists studied ways to give animals and other creatures the ability to talk and have feelings, believing it would benefit society and help young children with their social skills. In an attempt to help their daughter Liane in her daily life, two of the scientists used their research to create a group of harmless spherical creatures that would keep her company and help her in difficult times. Meanwhile, another group of scientists were testing giving animals the ability to talk - they end up creating the Rogons species by giving a special injection to bears, and accidentally creature a sentient crow called Magfire.

The scientists, Rogons and Treets all live in peace, but when Magfire felt he was unappreciated as he did not get the same attention as the other species, he absorbed a Treet called Rudy, who was discarded due to carrying a deadly disease, which gave him dangerous powers at the cost of his sanity. He then intoxicated the eldest of the Rogons, King Rogo, who killed most of the scientists, including both of Liane's parents, before being put down. Following the death of her parents, the eldest of the Treets, the Golden Treet, helped to raise Liane and the other three Treets; Pinky, Shiny and Galaxy.

Many years later, Liane has grown up and has had a daughter Louise, who now owns Pinky, Shiny and Galaxy. Following the Golden Treet's death, the other three Treets help to raise Louise and help her in her social life, though they have a lot more trouble in doing so compared to the Golden Treet. Meanwhile, the Rogons are now a large species run by King Rojo, the son of Rogo. Louise and Rojo clash several times but become friendlier with each other as time goes on.

Eventually, having fled after the previous incident, Magfire returns to Eastwood Park, and wrecks havoc by spreading a deadly disease. Louise and the Treets, however, are able to destroy him using the positive energy of the four of them, and are able to partially undo his actions. Eventually, the Treets regain their high-profile status and live happily with Louise and Liane, and continue to watch the latter grow up.
