Turner Entertainment, Inc., formerly Turner Entertainment Company, Inc., is an American multimedia company founded on May 1, 1985 by Ted Turner. The company currently serves as a production company for Turner-owned networks and produces films. The company was originally property of Turner Broadcasting System from 1985 to 1996. Since 1996, the company has been property of Warner Bros.


Ted Turner created the Turner Entertainment Company on May 1, 1985. Its original purpose was to serve as a distributor for pre-1980s Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry shorts and the WTBS library.

In 1989, the company began producing films, which would be distributed by Warner Bros.
