The Virginia Maestros are an American professional baseball team based in Richmond, Virginia and domiciled in Newport News, Virginia. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. The team joined the American League as an expansion team in 1986 playing their home games in Richmond at The Diamond. Since June 1991, the Maestros' home ballpark has been Maestro Stadium in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. The team is owned by Maestros Baseball L.P., represented by Wayne Carwardine II, son of team founder Christopher R. Carwardine.
