Wannabe Me is the debut single by Kuboian recording artist Violet Stars, released on 6th June, 2004 as the lead single from her self-titled debut studio album. The song features a guest appearance from Kuboian rapper Kool Teazer, though his verse is removed from the album version of the song.

"Wannabe Me" received mixed reviews from music critics, and entered the Karuboia charts at #2 on 13th June, 2004 before climbing to the top of the charts on the 20th and 27th that month. The song has been certified a Platinum certificate by the KSR. It also reached number five in Jetania.

Violet finished third place in the second series of Nick Karaoke Stars in late 2003. Although she had signed to Oyea Records, Violet said she wanted "a few days off" before releasing any music. According to Violet, after a few months passed, she approached DJ Kubin in March 2004, who produced an instrumental when she told him the type of song she wanted to make. Kool Teazer's inclusion on the song was done when Violet requested the song to feature "a genuine urban artist".

"Wannabe Me" is in the key of C Major, with a tempo of 99 beats per minute. The instrumental contains electronic synthesisers combined with a mallet percussion and hard-hitting hi-hats. The song has a total of three verses; two by Violet and one by Kool Teazer. Each verse is followed by a bridge, which itself is followed by the hook, both are performed by Violet using, as DJ Kubin states, "half-rapped, half-sung" vocals.

Music video

The music video for the song premiered on 20th April, 2004. The video was shot under a low budget, and simply features Violet standing in a rough area in North Kuboia. Kool Teazer's parts, however, are shot in a dark room with a starry background, making it appear that he is in space. The video was uploaded to YouTube in August 2007, and currently has over 100 million views as of December 2019.
