Harvard, Massachusetts to Lunenburg, Massachusetts. It was purchased by SFG Railway Operations from MassDOT in 1996. Part of the line is a street running route around Lake Whalom and Whalom Park. Customers along the route include the P.J. Keating quarry in Lunenburg and a Malt-O-Meal mill in Harvard.
In addition to using members of SFG's lease fleet of locomotives, Whalom Central has a few locomotives.
The engine roster comprises:
- 1 EMD GP15T (WCR 001; originally built for Ralston Purina as a switcher for their feed mill in Richmond, Indiana)
- 1 GE C36-7 (WCR 002; originally built for Hamersley Iron in Australia as HI 5058 and later operated by National Railway Equipment Company as NREX 5058 and NHDOT Commuter Rail as NDOT 5058)
- 1 EMD MRS-1 (WCR 003)
- 5 EMD SD45-3's (ex-Kansas City Southern Railway, originally built for the Southern Pacific)
