Stanley Wu Yufeng (Chinese: 吳宇風; pinyin: Wú Yǔfēng; born March 17, 1969) is a Tsengian singer, actor, and politician. He is one of Tseng's most famous singers of the 1990s, and is part of the Tsengge Eight. From 2008 to 2016 he was a member of the National State Assembly, as a member of the PDP. Wu earned US$5 million from his songs and movies in 2021, making him one of the highest-paid celebrities in Tseng.
Early life[]
Wu Yufeng was born in Yiyan, a small town in Meishan, Tseng, and was raised in Shimenxhi and later Pushan. His father was half Fu'lang and Tsengian, while his mother was full Tsengian. Before becoming a singer, Wu worked as a waiter.
Career[]
Musical[]

Wu in 1992
Wu's singing career started in 1988, when Wu enlisted in the Sing! Tseng singing competition. Sing! Tseng is also responsible for starting other singers' careers, including John Chen, Ricky Fu, and Ava Lin. Wu came runner-up. Realizing his potential, Wu was sent to singing classes with Dawson Yang, which was temporarily stopped in 1989 due to Tseng's compulsory military service. Wu served in the Tsengian Army from 1989 to 1992.
In 1992, Wu released his first album, Kamikaze.(神風). It was a success, selling 1.34 million copies. His next album, released in 1993, Love You (愛你), sold 800,000 copies. In 1994, he won the Golden Tune Award for Best Male Mandarin Singer. In 1995, he married singer Ava Lin.
The success of Wu's first two albums gave him more creative control within the label, and in the same year, he released his third album, 2AM (凌晨2點). It differed from his first two albums as 2AM went in a more experimental direction, containing dance and electronic influences.
In 1997, Wu took greater artistic risks with the release of Cloudburst (暴雨), which contained an alternative rock/Britpop-esque sound. The album was initially panned by many critics, and Wu was nearly dropped from Zenghe due to its poor sales. Cloudburst was reassessed in the following decades and is now considered one of the most important records in the development of modern Tsengian rock.
Acting[]
Political[]
Wu has outspoken political views. In 1998, he stated he supported gay people. As LGBT topics were still taboo in Tseng at the time, Wu was unable to record an album due to his composers, writers, and arrangers not agreeing with him. Wu became a member of the People's Democratic Party in 1996 and was a member of the National State Assembly from 2008 to 2012, representing Shimenxhi 2. He is also an ardent supporter of aboriginal rights, donating a fifth of his fortune to indigenous communities across Tseng in 2021.
Personal life[]
Wu is married to singer Ava Lin. They have three children, Jasper, Aurora, and Kayson.
